RUMOR WOODS UPDATE: PM Wyrom talks about the updated reward structure to the activities at Rumor Woods. The incidentals that drop are all random. Odds: 1 in 250 for a better SimuCoin item. Bugle and bell drops (the pets) are 1 in 5000 chance per game, (fox and pixie hunts track separately). There’s a list of common SimuCoin shop drops, and rare drops. EVENT STATS will be updated with statistics for your run/s. There are more details:

With all the other changes, we have some upgrades to the reward structure.

First, just want to discuss what isn’t changing and give the breakdowns on any drop rates. Raikhen rewards are based on the performance of the activity, rewards are all random. You can get a partial SimuCoin item each run. There is a 1 in 250 chance that you can get one of the better SimuCoin items (value wise). These are purely incidental. The bugle and bell (the pet drops) are a 1 in 5000 chance per game (so fox hunt and pixie hunt track separately). This improves the longer one doesn’t go out (similar to the exp orb at Duskruin, but on a global level, not an individual level).

Now for the updates!

The common SimuCoin item rewards are:

a flexing arm token (15 uses, enhancive pause)
an Elanthian Guilds voucher pack (2 vouchers)
a blue feather-shaped charm (1 use, encumbrance)
an Adventurer’s Guild voucher pack (2 vouchers)

The rare SimuCoin rewards are:

an Adventurer’s Guild task waiver (standard)
a sun-etched gold ring (30 days)
a locker runner contract (30 days)
a larger locker contract (+50 locker spots for 30 days)

Previous years had the urchin guide in the common list and Chronomage spheres and a single Reim orb in the rare. The takeaway is that we’re increasing the value of the rare rewards from 75 – 100 SC to 250 – 400 SC.

The bell to summon a lamb pet is all new this run and can only be found in the Pixie Hunt. The bell is wearable on your belt, like the bugle in the Fox Hunt. The EVENT STATS will be updated with some naming here.

{Other Posts by Wyrom in the discusion}:

I would like to touch on a complaint/concern from previous years here. We plan to change the listing from the summon prop name to just “Rare Fox Hunt/Pixie Hunt Items Found” just to sort of futureproof when/if we switch things out. But we had some notes that people would rather see the time they last found one vs a count given that it’s rare. I’d like to poll those here which you’d rather see. If we do a timestamp instead, those who already found one will have a 1 or 2 second date in there in Unix, which is 1970.

As a note about raikhen gains between jousting and the hunts. Jousting should, on average, result in ~300 raikhen per entry over time. The hunts have the random element of fixing the fox or pixie, but as long as you are properly skilled and doing the tracking/observing, the average will be ~288 raikhen without ever finding a fox or pixie. If you can average finding one once every ten runs, jousting still has a slight edge.

In previous years, the jousting average was ~137, so that would be over 300 with this update. Not sure if that will hold up, but just putting the data out there.

Going to just be pretty honest with you, don’t play the hunts for the random drop. That’s why the pet shops were added. If you want to work toward them, that’s what it’s for. Each event is a bit different with the reward structure. This year we focused on bringing raikhen up to bloodscrip/soul shards. There aren’t any plans to update anything else. The pixie hunt and fox hunt are separated for the pet rewards specifically.
