Pashtal’s Assault – Jackal Statues Powered – What we know so far…

– Pashtal is a bad guy; he’s an illusionist and works in the realm of nightmares and fear; he’s attempting to bring Sheru’s presence to Mist Harbor (which amusingly I am not opposed to, given my 330 investigations into deity shrines, but I draw the line at killing little kid’s parents to make it happen)

– Pashtal has found a book (a large leatherbound book bound with corded sinew) that he can read some of (apparently in a manner that causes damage to himself) which has increased his power

– there are 4 jackal statues in Mist Harbor (relatively easy to find in all 4 sections): Standing more than twice as high as the tallest giantman, this massive statue depicts a lean, hungry jackal in a seated pose. Its maw hangs slightly open in a feral snarl, and glittering rubies have been set into the obsidian to serve as the beast’s hungry eyes.

– the statues are within a magical barrier that resists all interaction (though you can use Symbol of Blessing, confetti mortars, and water cannons.. I assume the Symbol of Blessing is a mistake and the mortars and cannons are because Sheru likes to party)

QUILIC: Until such time as the statues can be powered down, undead will be generating in Mist Harbor. This takes as long as it takes, and can be shut down automatically if the players can find how to do so.

QUILIC: A single person can figure it out without assistance from other players, if the circumstances are right.

– there is an important NPC (a priest of Jaston called Fyodar (they’re the NPC in charge of starting the deed puzzle on FWI; you can find them in the cemetery tunnels)) that was performing a ritual before Pashtal stole Fyodar’s holy symbol (ask a cleric about their 340 symbols)

– the ritual is nothing high end but apparently Pashtal is really worried about it

A willow-thin human priest awkwardly says, “It was just… something we did. Our order, that is. A way of reaffirming our dedication to Jaston.”

A willow-thin human priest awkwardly says, “And… um… so, each of us… has a talisman or statue or medallion or something… something that means something to us. That’s important to our personal faith.”

You remove an ornate Jaston statuette from in your twilight grey cloak.

Speaking quietly to Missoni, a willow-thin human priest says, “It is a statuette of Jaston… it’s quite old. My grandfather carved it, and it has been passed down.”

(not suspicious at all!)

A willow-thin human priest uncomfortably says, “We weren’t able to get far with our research. We were attempting to finish the ritual, you see…”

A willow-thin human priest awkwardly says, “But… we can’t complete it without… my statuette.”

Speaking quietly to Delindra, a willow-thin human priest says, “Each of the members of the order recites the first prayer they learned to Jaston. Whichever resonated with them the most, and drew them to his service.”

Speaking quietly to Delindra, a willow-thin human priest says, “Then we produce our talisman, and place it on the altar, each in turn, reciting that prayer under our breath.”

Speaking quietly to Delindra, a willow-thin human priest says, “All the members of my order save myself have completed their portion of the ritual. Time is… immaterial. Their portion is complete. Any others who wish to contribute are welcome to do so, but my statuette must be placed on the altar for things to be… for whatever power that…. for the circle to be completed.”

.

That’s all the back story…

My theory is that we need to find Fyodar’s missing statuette and then place it on the altar in the deed puzzle room to power down the jackal statues and stop undead from spawning.
