Care of the Library Aies, Ta’Illistim
Greetings, Honored Scholars.

It is not often that I take quill to parchment for matters beyond our borders, yet I find myself doing so today, out of both respect for our shared history and the faint stirrings of mystery that cling to it.

Once, in the days when the forest’s canopy was yet young, the place we now call Cysaegir stood as a modest outpost of Illistim endeavor, known then as Glimae’den. The stones still bear the mark of careful hands, and the earth holds echoes of voices long fallen silent. In those times, the buildings stood straight and proud, their forms unmarred by the wear of years. Now, of course, time has pressed its hand upon us all, and the timbers lean like tired old men.

Several weeks past, during the ceremonial beginning of a new hall, our steps carried us to a cabin nearby, its weathered plaque still naming it the Glimae’den Meeting House. In its day, it must have been a place of some importance, where voices gathered to shape the life of the settlement. Yet for as long as I have known it, the building has stood upon a patch of scorched earth, ringed by trees stripped bare as if by some ancient calamity. That such desolation should endure for centuries is, in itself, cause for wonder. Now, with new construction planned, the place could no longer remain closed to us. We broke the rusted lock and stepped inside, expecting little more than dust. Instead, we found the skeletal remains of a figure, arm outstretched toward a heavy tome upon the floor, as though reaching for it even in their final moments.

The tome bears an arcane lock, one we have not yet fully dared to unravel. One among us attempted to engage its mysteries, only to be met with an invisible barrier that held fast. The lock’s nature is subtle and intricate, resisting our modest efforts without yielding its secrets.

Through these discoveries, impressions suggest the individual may have been of Illistim heritage, though we cannot be certain. The information we have gathered also indicates, with some certainty, that this figure perished during a kiramon incursion. Whether the settlement was abandoned before or after this tragic event remains unknown. We make no claims beyond what is known, but it seemed right that you be made aware of these findings, for if this was indeed one of your own, then their story would be a matter of significance to your people as well as ours.

The remains and the tome are held safely here in Cysaegir, and while they are part of our keeping, we would gladly welcome the insight and aid of Ta’Illistim’s learned in unlocking the tome and lending clarity to the events of those long-past days.

May your wisdom endure, and may your curiosity never dull.
