IN MEMORIAM: We are very sad to announce the passing of Saraphenia’s player. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family, in game and out there in the real world. Friends, I’m sad to share the news that Saraphenia’s player passed away this past Sunday.
Saraphenia was Leafiara’s wife and her player was my dear friend. Her reach was greater than a lot of people knew, sometimes even including herself, and she had incredible generosity toward new adventurers and bringing people into her world.
I could say much more and I will, in time, but I’ll leave it at this for now as there’s a lot to arrange. The RYSK members and I are working on a memorial and we’ll keep you apprised.
I’ve been braced for this since January 2023. Even so, no amount of bracing can ever truly prepare someone, but… For those who don’t know, back then she had a heart attack and, to my understanding, was technically dead for several minutes before paramedics were able to bring her back. She overcame death that time, but this time was not to be.
We’ll move forward and we’ll have a celebration of life in due course. Obviously I’m not in a place for that right at this moment, but I know it’s what she would have wanted. What I can pull myself together to say right now is that I’m glad she did come back and stick with us long enough to see through major moments like finally reaching cap, being elected as a Landing councilor, and renewing her vows.
So I want to thank everyone for that, along with other things like being a RYSK officer or the 2022 Frost Queen, as I know it all made a huge difference these past several years.
