UPDATE: GM Vanah announced a big quality of life update for lost items and the RECOVER command. RECOVER LIST gives you things lost to death/disarming and such. RECOVER LOST for items the Janitor is holding on to for you. The Adventurer’s Guild can help you with either thing, check with the Guild Headmaster for any things you may be missing in the last 30 days. Details at the wiki:

To help cut down on the confusion between the RECOVER list and the lost and found recovery list, both of which you can ask the local Adventurer’s Guild headmaster about, a new option has been added to the RECOVER verb. RECOVER LOST will tell you if you have any lost and found items, which are items registered to you that the janitor has picked up. You must still pay the bounty for them at the Adventurer’s Guild to get them back, but this will hopefully make it easier to reunite you with your lost items. The headmasters’ language has been adjusted slightly to help nudge you to these two separate options.
