DUSKRUIN PREVIEW: For this Duskruin, GM Tivvy announced a Fullmetal Crucible. It’ll turn many metal slabs and weapons into forging slabs and a few items that there are molds for. This has been a much requested thing for a very long time. Don’t expect uber rare metal gear to be compatible with it but there are three tiers of unlocks for a total of 25 different metals. There are loads of details to read over, get your bloodscrip ready!

Fullmetal Crucibles are a device used to melt weapons, armor, and forging slabs to create other metal objects. They will NOT accept Duskruin ores. Any overage beyond the required amount of material fed into the crucible will be lost and will NOT be replaced, so please plan accordingly!

Crucibles:

Drop metal weapons, armor, or forging slabs into the crucible to melt them down into something else.

LOOK at the crucible while in use for cues as to the next step necessary to cast your new creations.

These are sold off the shelf and can be unlocked twice. Each unlock adds additional metal types that can be melted and cast into new items.

You may TWIST a Life Aquatic sea creature onto the crucible to change the default quencher creature.

Without a mold placed in the crucible before use, it will generate a 25-pound forging slab when 25 pounds of material have been fed to it.

Molds:

Plaster molds are single-use molds that let you create one item before the mold is destroyed. Cast iron molds are permanent molds that can be reused endlessly.

Plaster trick coin molds, cast iron bead molds, and cast iron picture frame molds will be available for purchase in Scoria and Dross as well.

More details on the molds available further in the thread.

Many thanks go to GMs Retser, Isten, Casil, Xynwen, Elysani, Lanadriel, and Gyres for testing and advice with these, and to GMs Haliste, Kaikala, and Quilic for allowing me to use their scripts for the molds!

Cast Iron Picture Frame Molds

This picture frame mold is a Fullmetal Mold for use ONLY with a Fullmetal Crucible.

This mold creates a customizable painting frame able to change the description of an Artist’s Easel painting. It will not work on paintings not created with an Artist’s Easel.
This mold is currently set to make: a [metal] frame that can be customized after creation.
This picture frame mold requires 10 pounds of metal to fill. It can be reused an unlimited number of times.

You analyze your steel frame and sense that the creator has provided the following information:
This is a Fullmetal Frame, which can be applied to an Artist’s Easel painting to change its description.
This frame is currently set to change the description of a painting to: a patinated steel-housed painting

To change the settings:
ATTEND for the article. Example: “a sprawling”
NUDGE for the adjective. Example: “[metal]-backed”
TINKER for the post-noun verbs. Example: “embellished with”
FIDGET for the post-noun adjective. Example: “jacinthe”
TUNE for the post-noun noun/motif. Example: “rosebuds”
SHAKE for a random description.
PUSH to toggle whether or not the post-noun descriptive phrase is included.

When you have settled on the appearance you like, ADD FRAME TO PAINTING.

It was originally meant to allow you to melt things into forging slabs only but then I feature creeped the heck out of myself last fall and now we’re here. So the metals allowed are those that are generally forging slabs.
Let me dig up the per tier breakdown.

I can’t find the tab where I saved them broken out, but here’s the full list at max unlock for now:
This crucible is unlocked to Tier 3

It can currently melt: bronze, copper, imflass, invar, iron, mithril, ora, steel, vultite, drakar, gornar, mithglin, rhimar, zorchar, black ora, eahnor, eonake, faenor, golvern, kelyn, razern, rolaren, vaalorn, veil iron, and white ora.

Q&A:
* 30 beads per casting
* It does not work with duskruin ores.
* Coraesine’s a nonstarter.

Update from GM Tivvy, 9 Feb 2023 7:31

A couple of notes: — As of right now, the crucible will NOT accept crafted items. I understand this may make a crucible way less appealing to some of you, and I’m sorry about that. My initial concept for these wasn’t to allow for endless recycling of crafted weapons that weren’t the quality folks were aiming for, but to give another path to obtaining slabs and to consolidate smaller slabs. I MAY in the future be able to research and review and add them back in with a loss percentage, but given the example above with lances, it would be a pretty hefty loss. Please don’t purchase one if you’re expecting this to happen in the future, as I’m not making any promises that this will change, just that I will look into it.
