ANNOUNCEMENT: GM Ethereal announced and explained a bit more about the new Flourishes system, also known as Slot F. They are non-mechanical (F is for Fluff, after all) scripts. The Fancy Stances Flourish will debut at Duskruin. Items can support up to 20 individual Flourishes. If an item has a script and a flourish using the same command, ONLY the script one will fire. Greetings Everyone!
Flourishes is a new system that allows multiple non-mechanical scripts on a single item. Flourishes are debuting at Duskruin with the Fancy Stances Flourish, which customizes STANCE VERBOSE messaging. With their introduction, items may now support up to 20 individual Flourishes.
Our expectation is that this system will be used for future coding projects, though some GMs may choose to make their own scripts Flourish compatible. That said, Flourishes have some limitations due to their need to coexist peacefully with scripts and subscripts:
Scripts and subscripts will always take precedence when it comes to verbs. For example, if a script and Flourish are both triggered by RUB, only the script will fire.
Flourishes must be non-mechanical and cannot have combat features.
While customizations are possible, they will be somewhat limited when compared to a full fledged script.
We’re very excited about this new system and the possibilities it holds.
