[Ebon Gate] – Shop Teaser – a circular bark-shingled hut

A boy was late. He paused. Could he be late? Here? It didn’t matter – soon the guests would arrive and that was all that mattered to him. He hurtled down Legion Lane, his mind willing his body ever faster. Body? Form? Projection? Whatever. No time for that now. He finally arrived and quickly ducked inside a bark-shingled hut. The shopkeeper’s greeting barely registered as he threw his pouch down on the counter and a small finger pointed towards the advertisements on the wall. Yes, that one. Yes, he had enough. Yes, he knew how to use it.

The guests would arrive soon. That is all that mattered. The boy ran but not as quickly as before. Evermore Hollow. He stopped. Almost reverently, he placed his prized possession down on the cobblestones. One-by-one, slowly, carefully, he pulled out pieces and spread them out before him. This piece here. The next there. Attach them together. Next piece. Perfect.

A boy was excited. He paused. He looked his creation up and down. One more thing. The boy knelt on the cobblestones and laid a tattered white cloth out before him. More work. Done. The guests would arrive soon. That is all that mattered. The boy dropped his backpack on the polished surface, its contents spilling out. Excitement. Waiting. A boy stood in Evermore Hollow next to his creation. The sign above him read: LɘmonAdɘ.

Ebon Gate’s 2023 run will be introducing a new item: Market Stalls! Available in the store Market Makers, these stalls allow for ambitious adventurers to set up temporary stalls that last for up to 4 hours. Don’t want to wait around for 4 hours while people give you their hard earned silvers? Good news! Each one comes with its own customizable shopkeeping spirit to tend to the stall while you venture throughout the lands in search of treasure or a good deal.

Market Stalls utilize the All Mine system and will stay in a room for up to four hours when PLACEd before falling apart and becoming susceptible to the janitor or other players. During this time, owners may place items for sale and customers can browse, inspect, and purchase those items. The shopkeeper will handle all of the necessary arrangements for payment and stock keeping, though they’ll expect a small cut of the proceeds for their service. Even a spirit has living expenses. Well, expenses, anyway.

The Market Maker comes OTS at Tier 1 and can be upgraded to Tier 5. Upgrades allow the stall to stand for longer, hold more silvers, reduce the shopkeeper’s cut, and have more items available for sale. In addition, the shop sells certificates to alter the shopkeeper’s personalities between kind, snooty, and sleazy.
Questions:
What can the stalls do at each tier?
Tier 1: The stall can stand for 1 hour, hold 5 items and 100k silvers, and the shopkeeper takes a 20% cut.
Tier 2: The stall can stand for 2 hours, hold 10 items and 200k silvers, and the shopkeeper takes a 15% cut.
Tier 3: The stall can stand for 3 hours, hold 10 unique items that can stack up to 5 times (50 items total) and 300k silver, and the shopkeeper takes a 10% cut.
Tier 4: The stall can stand for 4 hours, hold 10 unique items that can stack up to 10 times (100 items total) and 400k silver, and the shopkeeper takes a 5% cut.
Tier 5: The stall can stand for 4 hours (refreshable), hold 10 unique items that can stack up to 10 times (100 items total) and 1m silvers, and the shopkeeper takes no cut.

Where can I set these stalls up?
Stalls may only be set up in rooms that are in town and not noded.

Stalls use the All Mine system? What does that mean?
The All Mine system allows a player to PLACE items on the ground that can then only be picked up by themselves (via PLACE). After being placed, the stalls will last for 1-4 hours before they collapse and become subject to both the janitor and other players. Players will receive an alert when that happens.

As a perk of the All Mine system, Private Property owners may set up their stalls indefinitely.

What happens if the janitor sweeps up my item or another player takes it?
If the janitor takes the item, you’ll be able to recover it at the local Adventurer’s Guild. Stalls picked up by other players will need to be tracked down. However, items stored within the stall can only be withdrawn by the original owner in order to reduce the chance of item loss.
How much do these cost?
Stalls (OTS, Tier 1) cost 2,500 soulshards each.
Upgrade certificates for Tiers 2-5 cost 2,500 soulshards each.
Personality change certificates (kind, snooty, sleazy) cost 500 soulshards each.

Are there limits to what the stalls can hold?
The stalls are meant to hold relatively simplistic items similar to the Bag of Holding from Duskruin. If the item is too complex, the stall will let you know.

Who do we thank for this wonderful item?
Big thanks to GMs Thandiwe, Haliste, Isten, and Vanah for helping this project along and providing amazing insights!
