Stephos DeArchon pens a letter to the Mayor. And we’ve got the contents for you! Hint: He’s not amused about the One Price, One Landing movement…

Dear Lylia, Mayor of Wehnimer’s Landing.

“We have not yet spoken since your successful election, so allow me to first ink my congratulations to you. The campaign was surely taxing, and your victory no small feat, despite it being a narrow one. I look forward to meeting with you more frequently as an established merchant in this town and am positive we can find agreeable ways to drive prosperity for Wehnimer’s Landing.

To that end though, I must politely, as your ally of course, inform you that an election is not the same as conquering. Your chair is not a throne. One does not simply get elected and make bold demands and insult the reputable merchants of this great town and seek to diminish their feelings and business tradition.

You seek a level of equality that will not be easily accomplished in your term, or the next. There has existed for ages a bias against some, regardless of whether you or I agree with it. Should we blame all Faendryl for the genocide of the Ashrim? Should we look unfavorably on half-krolvin because of their shared heritage with the krol? This is a debate you and I would likely both find ourselves on the same side, but these predispositions that have been forged over centuries do not change overnight, and especially not under the veil of a gift sounding more like a threat. That only works to solidify such misconceptions, wouldn’t you say?

There is power in freedom, and while we may not always agree with the traditions of our people and merchants, we must honor their independence and ability to make their own decisions outside of commandments. This is Wehnimer’s Landing. We are not imperial, and we are not Ta’Wehnimer’s.

I look forward to our future meetings and know that while I hold no office myself, I still speak for many of the merchants in this town, and they too look forward to what the future holds.”

Signed,

Lord Stephos DeArchon
