Subj: Mayor's Minutes [RE: DOOMSDAY Preppers.]

Posted within the Lobby of Moot Hall is a Public Notice, written in pale ink on a glossy black parchment. The Notice is dated for the 12th of Eorgean in the Year 5117, and reads as follows:

Esteemed Citizens and Allies of the Landing,

I have posted up urgent notices which most of you have no doubt seen, but in the event that you have not, I have supplied copies of such below. As an alternative to this measure, our friend and ally Hospitallier Dirra Crawfinn is seeking permission to provide some manner of sanctuary within our neighboring city, Solhaven; my thanks to her, as always, for her continued support. Advisor Maylan, my representative for the people of Shanty Town, hosted an emergency fundraiser this evening; funds raised from such will be going toward emergency preparations to protect the more disenfranchised citizens of our town — including, but not limited to the residents of Shanty Town and the orphans of the Wellington Home — against the coming devastation we anticipate. I have consulted with various architectural and masonry guilds and seismologists of our town on Maylan’s behalf, and we hope to coordinate further with the Town Council on ways we might offer providence. While we have been afforded precious little time to act, it is my hope that we can at least provide some temporary protection until such time as we can develop more permanent measures against such calamities, which the majority of this fund will eventually be going toward.

I would like to commend Maylan for her efforts in this, and sincerely thank the Lockhart family and all those who graciously donated to the cause this evening. Among those individuals was none other than Grand Magister Dennet himself, who pledged five million silvers, no doubt inspired by the generosity of our citizens. I was also informed this evening that former Marshal Khylon has been gracious enough to reach out to some of his dwarven contacts, and sappers will be arriving in a few weeks to begin construction of these bunkers in earnest. If you missed this fundraiser, however, and still wish lend aid at a later time, you should feel free to seek out Maylan or myself to offer any contribution you see fit. I will try and keep you updated on this endeavor, and will be sending out reports to the Council and the Captains of the Militia for the purposes of joint coordination. On the subject of preparation, Captain Shinann Autura — on behalf of the Landing Militia — has diligently prepared a statement on action items relating to the coming incursion. I would highly recommend that all citizens and allies review this, as we will need to be as unified and prepared as possible against these potentially overwhelming odds. I would also recommend taking the time to familiarize yourself with our various defenses: the rooftops, for example, which afford an excellent position for defenders of any training to snipe (with spell or bow) hostiles within the town and its perimeter. As was swiftly reported by our trustworthy Town Crier Correspondent Leafiara this evening, Stephos DeArchon has graciously delivered a shipment of weapons from Jantalar; these arms for use by our Militia, with the remainder to be distributed to our citizens by our resident armsman, Tykel. This will no doubt be a tremendous boon in the days to come and beyond, as any who desire to arm themselves and defend our town should have the means to do so. [See which: https://goo.gl/oiJmch ]

Final item on the defense agenda is the warding project which most of you are perhaps at least tangentially aware of by now, even beyond the individuals I have consulted with privately thus far for their expertise. Unfortunately, the timeframe we find ourselves in now is simply not sufficient to be able to progress in this colossal endeavor; ensuring both the safety and efficacy of such a task is a paramount concern, and I have no intention of proceeding with such (beyond the research and logistical calculations required) without the approval of the Town Council and our citizens. When we survive the coming incursion and I am able to complete my work, however, I fully intend to present a public report on this matter and hold a Town Meeting to discuss; until then, however, I am going to focus instead on what measures we can accomplish to safeguard our town and its people. In other news, Judge Renpaw has seen fit to release Kayse on her own recognizance; a wise decision, given that we shall soon need every able-bodied individual for the defense of our town. Last but certainly not least, I would also like to congratulate the following individuals: Ulkov, Endoro, and Rarr have all recently completed their final training. It is my sincere hope, as friends and allies of the Landing, that they will turn their newly honed prowess toward defending our town in the days to come… or at the very least, focusing some measure of blood-lust toward our enemies.
