Hey folks, just thought I’d post bits from the memorial service for Lana, Landing music shop owner’s daughter. She rather unfortunately melted some time ago. Apologies to all the cuts I made, and props to all who participated! If any would like to see the full record, I’d be more than happy to provide it but it’s very, very lengthy, so I just included the words of those who spoke. Glad to see everybody who showed up!

*[Temple, Graveyard – 8692]

A small group of people stands around a newly-covered grave here in the Temple’s shadow. A priest, dressed in solemn clothing, leads the people in a soft song. While the key is minor, the words rejoice that the departed one now rests beyond the hardships of life, safe within Lorminstra’s grasp. You also see the brown Aleid disk, the icy blue Archsenex disk, the Ayumia disk, the Lornieh disk, a snow white raven, a forlorn dune spirit that is flying around, a cheery tidal spirit that is flying around, a small grey tombstone, a row of small stone markers and a smooth granite headstone.
Also here: Aleid, Miss Goblyn, Dergoatean, Sir Cryheart, Maiden Tyrrah, Journeywoman Ayumia, Avalera, Lady Lornieh, Lisbethany, Lord Endoro, Elbromo, Mayor Cruxophim, Amynara who is kneeling, Archsenex, Shinann, Sir Balantine, Subarashi, Ysharra*

You say, “All right.”
You ask, “Shall we begin?”

Speaking respectfully to you, Cruxophim states, “Thank you, Father Irar.”

*Father?! Ew. No, just no, Crux.*

You recite:
“I thank you all for coming to join us to commemorate the memory of Lana, daughter of Lute.”

You recite:
“She was taken from us too soon, and for reasons we do not fully comprehend.”

You recite:
“She was yet a member of our community, and I yet celebrate her memory. For she is of the Landing and is thus ours.”

You recite:
“I ask that we celebrate her, and to seek to do justice to her memory by seeking justice for her.”

You recite:
“Though I am a man of the Church of Koar, I know that we of all faiths, or those who do not follow a faith, share in this desire.”

You recite:
“I am sorry to see one so young go, but I hope that Lute, and those among us, can take comfort in the knowledge that we will all seek to do what we can to honor her in the days ahead.”

You recite:
“I am so glad to see you all here, and to see us unified despite all our differences and beliefs. We all share some common sense of decency, and we shall honor Lana with that.”

You recite:
“I’ll now invite you to pray to your own, or to simply take a moment of silence to remember Lana and why we fight for our people.”
You recite:
“And after, invite comments or commemoration from any who would like to speak.”

Cryheart recites:
“May the spirit of her music play forever”

Speaking to yourself, you say, “May Koar serve you justice, Lana.”

You say, “I’ll let you good folks take it over, then.”

Balantine quietly says, “I hae a short poem to share, if I may.”

Cryheart says, “May Koar direct us to serve that justice.”

Balantine quietly says, “Tis nae original, but it is fitting.”

Balantine recites quietly:
“Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.”

Balantine recites quietly:
“I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.”

Balantine recites quietly:
“When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.”

Balantine recites quietly:
“Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
(Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!”

Cryheart says, “Amen.”

Cruxophim somberly says, “To Lana, may she rest in peace.”

Speaking amicably to you, Cruxophim states, “Thank you, Father.”

No.

Cruxophim calmly states, “We are a community here in the Landing, above all else. When there is even the loss of one, we feel it… but may you remember her fondly, those who knew her.”

Speaking amicably to Goblyn, Cruxophim says, “It is better to come back to haunt the living, I think, but perhaps that is not for everyone.”

Speaking to Cruxophim, Goblyn suggests, “There are maybe better ways to come back than to haunt.”

You recite:
“Are there any others who would like to speak a word?”

Azryen drolly says, “Your pain, though doubtless intense, was fleeting.”

Shinann says, “Was not fleeting. They had her for days… best I do not speak further.”

You recite:
“If there are no others, I shall conclude with a remark and leave you all to your own remembrance.”

Goblyn accepts Cruxophim’s pink amaryllis.

Leafiara says, “I have something…”

Speaking to Leafiara, you say, “By all means.”

Speaking grimly to Shinann, Cruxophim whispers aloud, “At least it was quick.”

You shush Cruxophim!

Goblyn sniffs at her pink amaryllis.

Goblyn wrinkles her nose.

Leafiara sincerely vows, “Lana… most every day it is my honor to raise the dead, but you were not one who the Arkati permitted another chance at life that night. I won’t pretend that I understand why, but I hope you have found peace. And I will do everything I can to find out who did this and seek justice for you.”

You recite:
“I am glad all have had a chance to speak their peace, and am glad we could all come together tonight to remember Lana.”

Speaking to you, Shinann says, “Thank you.”

You recite:
“I would like to conclude by acknowledging that we too often focus upon the negativity in life, and the unfortunate events that befall us and those that surround us. We and those we love.”

You recite:
“Yet, in an often hostile and unforgiving world, I urge all to celebrate, and to take joy in the opportunities we have to be with those we love and enjoy our time with. Lana did not have the same opportunities we have.”

You recite:
“Yet we may leave today celebrating the life she had, and rededicating ourselves with purpose, and remembering how short lives can be, and how important it is to keep close our friends and loved ones.”

You recite:
“And always, may we seek and secure justice. And we shall. We shall find justice and ultimate closure for you, Lana.”

You recite:
“I am glad to have been with you to remember Lana. Thank you.”

You say, “If there is nothing else, I’ll leave it to you folks.”

You nod at Cruxophim.

You did a great job. Kudos to you and everyone who participated. I tend to enjoy the smaller scale rp myself.

Definitely agree and then some. I love the player-run branches! At least for me, the private conversations the memorial garnered were some of the more entertaining ones I’ve [Goblyn’s] had in awhile (there were a few that were making me laugh pretty hard, despite the somber circumstances). I’ll fully admit to having a hard time keeping up with them all at once — but many thanks to those who were trying, and to the overall event and efforts 😉

From nearby, you hear Ordim yell, “Dont eat meeeeee!”

The shaggy mutt sniffs at a vine-painted mistwood keg, then grabs it in its teeth and greedily wolfs it down before anyone can grab it!
