Hibbits, the Orbs, and Why Are There Shadowy Hands Over His Eyes?

Saturday Night in Icemule – things around Acting Interim Mayor Hibbits might be heating up. He seemed unaware, and unconcerned, about the shadowy hands covering his eyes. While he was around, he revealed the list of people who were chosen for ICICLE. More oddities abound, and they’re all noted in Mister Oubar’s report:

Last night was eventful, it would appear. Long after I had retired to the Lady’s embrace, apparently Hibbits made an appearance in Town Center. I was able to cobble together some of the occurrences thanks to the notes provided by Brokk, and am therefore able to put this record together.

The first thing of note… Hibbits’ appearance was changed somewhat. He appeared much more portly, and perhaps most starting: He had a pair of shadowy hands covering his eyes at all times. He seemed both unaware and unconcerned about this development, offhandedly commenting that he’d have someone look into it.
Secondly, this was the first time anyone could recall Hibbits being directly next to one of the strange occurrences around town (the orbs, the circle, etc). When it was pointed out to him that the circle was directly in front of him, he seemed perfectly willing to accept that this was the case, yet steadfastly claimed to be unable to see it for himself.

Hibbits did reveal the list of those fortunate enough to be chosen as a part of ICICLE: Woulfgar, Ferojys, Arshwikk, Dirvy, Laralana, Brokkrsten, Ibbo from the Citizens side, and Kilded, Brewyte, and Arnylon from the non-Citizens side. Hibbits mentioned that we were still about 4m short in the donations box, and that he needed the funds to pay for enchanted wood to build some sort of sleds… though he didn’t go into great detail. He also mentioned that there were going to be changes underway within Clovertooth Hall, to include a space for the newly formed ICICLE group.

Hibbits, somewhat breezily, stated that he would be taking a contingent of people to see Nihala, and that she was awake and doing somewhat better as of late. He wouldn’t commit to an exact number of people who would be allowed to join, but he did suggest at one point that everyone might be able to go. This is set to occur tonight around 10 Elven, from what he said.

Finally, the orbs in town have all moved, though it’s hard to say exactly when this occurred. It was definitely around the time of Hibbits’ appearance, however. Each of the orbs has drifted closer to TC, in a radial pattern, and the platform in the center of town has now changed to have a glowing eye-shaped sigil on it.
While it’s hearsay to be sure, as I personally wasn’t able to be there, reports from multiple sources indicate that Hibbits was far more relaxed than usual. He even had a bit of banter with the Deputy, and overall seemed quite at ease. He reiterated that he has no desire to be Mayor himself, and once again expressed his concerns about the snowfall, but there was none of the ire that marked his previous appearances. While it’s impossible to say for sure, I wonder if this might be more relevant than we realize at this point.
