Runestrument Status Update from GM Ivry – August 2026

UPDATE: GM Ivry left a small status update for Runestruments – announced at SimuCon this year. They are an instrument that works like a runestaff. She says they are not finished, but are already fun, and there will be master quality ones! They will have no lore bonuses for song spells, but can take an enhancive. There will be no conversions from rune staves or instruments to this new weapon type, at least not planned now. No date, yet.

We have decided to allow master quality runestruments after all.

These are very similar to a runestaff but come with a huge coolness factor upgrade (imo).

From the Q&A:

They will not have a lore bonus like a regular instrument, no.
But everything is left open (as much as possible) for you to further it along in power.
A fire flaring lute rocking bard. I can’t wait to see it.
I suppose you could get some enhancives on them, for a small lore bonus?

All I can say for certain is not at the beginning, nor is it planned currently.
