I’ve been asked to consolidate feedback regarding paladin current state, and look for tweaks (outside of archetypes) that could mitigate class shortcomings.
In order to do this, we must take a very structured, and pedantic approach to ensure every conclusion is well documented and ensuring that we’re not needlessly proposing changes that are purely meant to buff the class. Let’s be honest, every class wants +50 AS or +50 DS, or a specific maneuver/etc. So the substantiation of the need and evaluation of alternatives is paramount in laying down proposals to action.
The goal is to have a few conclusions:
1) Identification quality of life problems (beseech weapons every single time)
2) Identify a problem with Paladins. Collectively agree to a problem existing.
2.1). Scoping: Determine if it’s a capped problem or leveling problem. Do other classes have similar problems? How do they solve this problem?
3). If it’s agreed to be a problem, discuss ideas to remediate the problem.
3.1). Discuss implications to other paladin builds or other classes for proposed adjustments to solution the problem.
This thread is meant to document concerns or perceptions. From now until January 10th, please provide any concerns, ideas, etc. keep in mind, if it’s to the point of requiring a new spell, or net new messaging, it’s outside of the scope.
I plan to establish high level bullet points for our discussion on the 13th based on feedback provided up until then. And will update either this post, or the next one, with the high level talking points.
I’ll work with @Jara to see if we can record, and hopefully appoint someone to takes notes and transcribe conclusions to be shared with the GMs.
