DUSKRUIN AUCTION: PM Wyrom details the plan for the Duskruin Auction on Saturday, Feb 25 at 8pm. First pass will be regular auction. If they have to do it again, it will be mix of regular and reverse methods, but don’t count on any ‘again’ part. Look for starting bids to be the reserve bid set by staff. Details:

Duskruin – Automated Auction

We have decided to just do normal auction mechanics for the first pass of auction items. If we load this automated auction back up afterwards this run for whatever reason beyond the date it will happen, it will be a mix (don’t count on this, I’m just covering a hypothetical). This isn’t guaranteed that we only do normal auctions going forward, it just means this time, this run.

Because this is automated, minimum bids will start at their reserve pricing. This might not be as low as you want it to be and it may mean more items don’t sell, but there will be no changes to this. The reserve auction help us in the way scaling pricing helped us. Both aren’t very desired, but it lets us know where a price point is where things go from too low to too high pretty quickly. They work when things are live and have human interaction, but the code doesn’t care about your feelings. However this is an auction and the desired results are to sell higher end services for at least a certain price. As I mentioned, normal auction pricing might not feel right, but don’t expect anything going into it like the live auction where I get a feel on whether or not something will go for what the reserve pricing is and start off super low.

The automated auction is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 25th at 8PM Eastern. Due to this change, I’m unsure if we will need more time, so unless otherwise stated, plan on the date mentioned.
