This is going to be OOC, just to sort of catch people up a little. I’m also going to consider it IC information and also as sending reports to Marshal Thrayzar, Captain Khylon and Mayor Puptilian.

The other night, when we were being invaded by the Icewall bandits, titans and who knows who, Shinann noticed that there were barges leaving the Landing. Since she couldn’t stay alive, trying to defend, and there were plenty of empaths, she decided to go to where the barges were. As militia, she knows those barges were not inspected in the mayhem and she had the right to inspect them. Even though they were out of the Landing and in Vipershroud, she felt she should still try to inspect them, since they left, during an invasion, which was highly suspicious.

Well, when she got there, there were several people from the Landing. One of them was Mynon and he was questioning the others about what was on the barges. Shinann insisted that she should be able to inspect the barges, even though several people from the Landing said she couldn’t or didn’t have the right. She wasn’t going to take no for an answer and neither was Mynon. The hooded figures on board, were insiting that the Imperial and militia move away from the area. Shinann asked the people at the barges (who I won’t name yet, in this post), were they just going to let her die (since she considered two of them friends)? Mynon and Shinann were the only two attacked and killed, by the hooded figures. We both remained dead and our souls observed the goings on. The others were not attacked, because they are traitors, working with the Rooks.

There were crates being unloaded, that matched the crates that held the ice giants, that we had found on an earlier barge. During this time, a group of bandits and titans showed up and started attacking the ones that were helping the Rooks. Unfortunately, only one of the traitors was killed. We saw someone with the symbol of Jantlar, speaking with the hooded figures (I’m assuming Jantlar because it was a triskelion on a field of gold and red, but it said gold and crimson). They were talking about Mynon and they picked him up and threw him in a barrel and carried him off into the woods. Eventually, the barges left and Shinann refused to be fogged back to town by traitors. Rysus showed up and tried to take Shinann and she decided to let him, because she was hoping he’d take her to wherever they had taken Mynon. Alas, he opened a gate and pulled her into TSC (which pissed her off… she would have decayed if she had known that was the destination… heh)

Mynon was found and had a story to tell about where those ice giants were going and who was working with the Rooks. I sort of figure that is his story to share, even though he did share it with some of us on Hearthstone Porch.

I want to apologize for not giving a more detailed account. My niece is getting married this week and my afternoons and early evenings are being taken up with that. I will be in later tonight and I will discuss anything that happened with anyone who wishes to ask. Excuse the briefness and rambling of this post, but I wanted to get a little something out here and also wanted to advise the officials that needed to be advised.

We had storms then Ice Giants heading to Icemule then they turned and went to Wehnimer’s Landing. The hit east gate/along the river from the sounds of it and burned some more things near Beldin’s. At that point I got tired and had to get to bed.

Last night was pretty chaotic, and I spent a fair bit of it running back and forth, but here’s what I know:

– A number of Icemule residents were killed by arrows from the shadows.

– The ice giants that headed to the Landing never hit town; their target was a trio of black barges on the Locksmehr River near Voln.

– Like the other barges, these proved to contain green-veined ice giants, but these were anything but frozen; they were angry.

– Rooks guarding the barges were pretty cranky too, especially when adventurers started to set them on fire.

– The giants and Rooks fought one another as much as they did the adventurers.

– An ice giant chieftain appeared, and while I didn’t catch all the discussion, the gist of it is that if the Rooks showed themselves near his people again, he’d be angry — and we wouldn’t like him when he’s angry.

– A halfling then appeared from the shadows. An envoy of Kobrog, the Icewall Bandits’ leader, also known as the One-Eyed Knave, the halfling told us Kobrog would be willing to discuss matters on his home turf tonight and only if adventurers came without weapons in hand.

Just wanted to thank Shinnan and Mynon for a lovely evening Saturday night on the river. I wanted to post something as well, but work got in the way ;(

I tried really hard to get more people involved with helping me by sending out thoughts about hiring henchmen and mercenaries, but the timing seemed to be off and none of my usual partners in crime were around. I and one stalwart co-conspirator were hired to defend the barges from the Knave until they could be unloaded. We were not expecting any militia members or imperials to find time to come snooping in the midst of the Icewall bandit’s attack, I tried to drop hints, both subtle and more direct that prying eyes were not appreciated, but my warnings went unheeded. While I am not sure why the two militia members thought I could shield them from a barrage of arrows from half a dozen archers, my desire to see peace in Landing and Icemule outweighed my regret at disappointing two ill-fated humans.

OOC the plan was simple, hit the Knave and the Icewall bandits one last time, to encourage them to sit down to discuss peace, the last shipment was necessary to help fund the concessions necessary to broker a fragile peace between the two sides. I couldn’t let inspector gadget and penny mess it up yet!

Shinann is only 1/4 human! Hehe I just had a sudden flashback to the comic, Elf Only Inn. I had fun watching it all. She definitely noticed you trying to hire mercenaries, over the thought net. She thought that was completely odd, since we knew there was an invasion coming. She even mentioned it to a couple of people. But, it didn’t click with her, until she showed up at that barge. It cracked me up when you said something like, “Who thought an overzealous inspector would cause this much trouble?”

As far as trying to garner peace, without knowing any details, Shinann just sees traitors working with Rooks trying to make deals with other bandits, so she can only react one way. Of course, we need good guys and bad guys, so I don’t expect for her to be invited to any Rook meetings. I know it’s boring to hear her say, you don’t have the right to do this. But, that’s about the only thing she can say, at this point. She doesn’t have the right to do that either or anything special, except maybe insist on inspecting boats and barges. Love to see how all this is going to play out. While Shinann might not be too happy with a few people right now, I’m having fun! Poor Shinann is just not a loud or colorful character. Yet…

Shinann’s player.

Thanks for sharing, Shinann.

I’m enjoying the way this has gone so far – there are good guys and bad guys, but also disagreement about what is good and bad.

Watching barges burn.

Aurach says, “The only way to end such conflict, is to cause such destruction, such loss of life, and inflict such horrific conditions on all combatants, they either sue for peace or are unable to fight any longer.

True. That is problematic.

It was an interesting time, by the Locksmehr, Saturday night, and our shared part of it was a lot of fun. It ended pretty much as I expected, and that’s when things took a pretty drastic turn, for Mynon. Kudos to you, for keeping dialogue (sometimes, monologue) going with an unquestionably unfriendly audience, and a definite tip of the hat to Shinann, for sharing in what was definitely an unhealthy level of interest in some suspicious activity.
I, too, wanted to post something more about it, but a few factors combined, and I decided to take a somewhat different tack on sharing the story, in this instance. The results should be posted in the fairly near future, though not by me.
