Written in a slanting copperplate hand on thick ivory parchment, a notice is tacked to the bulletin board outside Moot Hall.

– A member of the Order of the Sphere and Scythe, Balley received a vision that appeared to be of Naimorai’s last moments in the plinite caverns and first moments in her new time, when she claimed the name Rachel and before she became Raznel. It is likely that the “Peter” she met in these visions is also Pylasar, as we know he knew her in his youth.

– A horde of kobolds and orcs, along with an occasional rolton and thyril, arrived in our town to request peace and equal treatment. I explained to them that the town’s jurisdiction extends only as far as its walls and that to seek peace, they must first give it. I have also outlined paths to citizenship elsewhere. Please see me in my office with questions, or if you are a kobold or orc, please refer questions to the local merchants who have shown themselves so accommodating to races other than human.

– Malluch Burdos, formerly known as ‘Rone,’ requested to have one of his belongings brought to him in his prison cell, a silver crystal ball pin symbolic of Jastev and given to him by the departed Lana. His request went through the usual channels, and a clerk delivered the pin to my office for intensive study to ensure that it was only the simple pin it appeared to be. After thorough examination from Lord Xorus, Magister Raelee, and former mayor Cruxophim, the pin revealed no secrets. It did, however, offer up something of its history to Captain Stormyrain’s song. I have transcribed the loresong here:

Malluch rests with his back against a wide oak tree, the light of the sun breaking through the thick canopy above, causing a myriad of golden light to cascade across the ground. A woman rests her head on his lap, a book open before her, lost in her reading as he strokes her hair gently, smiling as he watches her. The woman idly traces her fingers along a crystal ball pin clasped on her coat.

Malluch stands only in a pair of loose dark pants, his lean yet muscular frame glistening with sweat. A checkered white and black marbled floor stretches out before him, and his glare burrows into a training dummy positioned before him. His head turns at the approach of a young man carrying a sealed note. Malluch opens the note, and the blood drains from his face.

Malluch follows a trio of white-robed figures wearing blue sashes, his eyes never lifting up, but staying intently focused on the crystal ball pin in his hand. His lips are frozen in a scowl, his jaw clenched tightly. He is brought before an ornate double door and is silently ushered in by the robed figures.

Malluch lies on a slab of greyish-white standstone., his arms drawn down over the side of the rock, and his legs and neck bound by mithril bands. His eyes are closed, his breathing shallow, and two white-robed figures stand watch as a third makes small incisions in Malluch’s arms, applying a vial of liquid to the wounds. Nearby, two other men lie on slabs of sandstone, but their bodies are pale and lifeless.

– Although the pin did not immediately reveal any unusual properties, I denied Malluch Burdos’s request for it. Rovvigen offered him a Jastev symbol as a focal point for his prayers and as consolation, but Burdos scorned it, wanting only his own trinket. His petulant demeanor confirms the consensus decision to keep the item from his hands as he shows no remorse about those whose loved ones he stole away without consideration of any mementos they may have left behind.

– Malluch Burdos also spoke of the Alchemist, surprising many in the assembled crowd who had not heard this name on anyone’s lips before. The guard captains, Stormyrain and Shinann, along with Leafiara, Kipara, Chaoswynd, and Cryheart, heard him speak of the Alchemist in a private audience. When they presented this news to me, they cautioned that keeping this name quiet could help protect Malluch, prevent a public panic, and allow us to learn more of a potential adversary before he or she became aware of our knowledge. I concurred.

– The next Town Hall meeting is on the tenth of Ivastaen. It would be a good time to bring questions about Malluch Burdos, the Alchemist, or similar matters before the panel.

– It is hereby noted that the notice board outside Moot Hall and the blackboard outside my office are for official messages and meaningful correspondence. The miscreant caught doodling coarse images on it has been duly disciplined by bastinado. Let this be a reminder to others, and let us remain courteous in our communications, lest further misunderstandings occur.
