Merchants and shopkeepers in Icemule Trace have felt the pain of fiery sparks and threatening words. With suspicions of a firemage active in the area once again, some townsfolk have expressed that it may be the return of Thurfel at hand. While no signs outright point to this being the case, many people in Icemule have reported seeing fiery lights in the sky above their icy town since last Restday. More than a few saw showers of sparks eerily illuminating the sky, and a group of children have reported hearing a bizarre roar followed by the appearance of a blazing fireball.

In addition to these strange reports, most merchants in Icemule have now received dire missives demanding tithes to insure them against supposedly imminent hazards that are yet to come. Business owners have been given a few days to cooperate with the missive’s mysterious author, and no outright attacks have been seen thus far. However, the rumors and fiery sightings in the sky are enough to provoke genuine fear from many of the shopkeepers.

Flashfeet, of Flashfeet’s Fine Fashions was quoted as saying, “On my return home for the night, hot red sparks fell from the sky. I had to stomp around just to put out the flames on my pant leg! I’d hate to see the same thing happen to my shop. Of course, it’s a good thing I sell such fine quality of clothing in Flashfeet’s Fine Fashion! Visit it today!”

There was extremely worry about a loss of merchandise at Uxbri’s Firewood, as the merchant claimed, “If fire rained down from the sky, my entire shop would go up in in a puff of smoke. The next thing I’d know, my wares would be gone in an instant, raging like a bonfire! These threats are a worst-case scenario for me.”

Another merchant in town, the local herbalist Leaftoe claimed, “I have received two missives now in as many days from this so-called firemage character. I do not take kindly to threats, and furthermore, I will not pay tithes to some mad man. It is my hope this ruffian will soon learn what all other threats do in time. Icemule will not stand for this!”
