It’s been over a week since Prelate Chaston Griffin stood among adventurers, commoners and peasants in the shadow of the walls of Vornavis and declared all half-elves and half-krolvin to be abominations and a blemish to the pure blood of humans. The Prelate went on to lead a mass prayer among hundreds of faithful gathered, and publically called on Koar to release his wrath on those who serve as a stain on humanity.

In the last few days there have been numerous reports of half-elves suffering from lesions and other sores along their flesh, as well as black veins appearing on the skin of their necks and cheeks. The known cases so far have occurred out of Vornavis, Mestanir, and some other cases occurred in Wehnimer’s Landing, a protectorate of the Turamzzyrian Empire.

Fear has already begun to spark among the Northern Provinces of the Empire, as many speculate exactly what this affliction means, and is it wildly contagious? In a small farming community on the border of Mestanir, it was said two half-elven commoners were apprehended by their fellow townspeople and burned at the stake, the local church declaring they were abominations and cursed in the eyes of the God-King.

Already, various accounts of the blight and surrounding events have circulated.

A blacksmith out of Mestanir was quoted as saying, “I seen it with my own eyes. The black blood of them hathlyn were revealed by ole Koar ‘emself! Worse, when I seen ‘em burn, it was like even the flames were touched with darkness for a time! We live in some troublin’ times!”

A militia member out of Wehnimer’s Landing commented, “There is no reason to let fear cripple our town and people. We’ve endured worse. This is no divine curse, but just another trick from a clever enemy. We’ve defeated worse.”

Despite the early stages of what many are calling the next epidemic since the Red Rot, there still remain many mysteries and questions left unanswered. Regardless, Chaston Griffin, Prelate of the Church of Koar, and acting Northern Sentinel of the Turamzzyrian Empire has already begun creating various plans and contingencies in preparation should the disease spread and threaten the Turamzzyrian Empire. When pressed for details, the Church of Koar, nor the Prelate, provided any additional details at this time.

“Blight of the Black Blood” is a far, far cooler name than “Half-Elf Cooties,” which is what I was calling it in my own mind.

I’m sorry to miss any of tonight’s festivities. Tsk, work’s interfering with my play time again. Just unfair!

I have studied this particular affliction extensively, and I have come to the conclusion that intoxicants help to slow the progression of the blight. It is my expert opinion that all half-elves and half-krolvins should stay as drunk as possible at all times until the threat is over. Trust me, I’m a master healer!

Didn’t the dwarves already do the Red Rot first?

Elves are such copy-cats….

>>Elves are such copy-cats….

It is the humans. Elves wouldn’t be so crass as to cause undue suffering.

Unless you’re an orc-kin.

Despana did the Red Rot before it was popular, but they probably hadn’t even heard of it.
