Subj: A Trip to Tamzzyr (September 30 story recap)
Short form:
Naimorai takes adventurers to Tamzzyr and wants a prayer session with Irar in Koar’s temple. Some acolytes whisper that they saw Naimorai passing a vial to Irar, then the Deacon returns and the group goes home.

Enjoy room descriptions!

Log:

[Town Square Central]
This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer’s Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep.

An armored Hendoran soldier just arrived!

A soldier looks around, surveying the area for someone.

Speaking to an armored Hendoran soldier, Irar says, “Evening.”

The soldier nods, “Ah, Deacon Irar.”

Irar nods to the Hendoran soldier.

Speaking to an armored Hendoran soldier, Irar asks, “To the outpost?”

The Hendoran soldier says, “Deacon Irar, Naimorai would like to meet with you shortly. Others are welcome.”

Irar nods to the Hendoran soldier.

Speaking to an armored Hendoran soldier, Irar asks, “Happily. Where would she like to meet?”

The Hendoran solider says, “No, no, not the Outpost. She will send word.”

The Hendoran solider says, “Shortly.

Speaking to an armored Hendoran soldier, Irar says, “I’ll await her word then. Thank you.”

The soldier marches off.

[a meeting place is worked out over the amunet]

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Meeting Naimorai at the Black Sands ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

[The Black Sands]
Waves roll up onto the dull black beach, the seafoam tracing lacy patterns against the dark background. Flies buzz among the rotting seaweed, rising up in swarms as you pass. To the northwest, a pillar of rock rises out of the water. You also see a greater kappa that is sleeping and a tall wooden archery tower.

Irar nods to Naimorai in greeting.

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar says, “Greetings, Lady Naimorai. Koar’s blessings.”

Naimorai says, “Evening.”

Speaking to Naimorai, Ysharra says, “You look recovered, my lady.”

Naimorai smiles at Ysharra.

Naimorai says, “I feel well enough. I was surprised.”

Naimorai says, “Not scared.”

Naimorai says, “Thank you for coming Deacon.”

Speaking to Naimorai, Ysharra asks, “How so?”

Naimorai says, “The other night…with the soldiers.”

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar says, “Any time, any where.”

Goblyn comes out of hiding.

Goblyn sits down next to Naimorai.

Naimorai smiles at Goblyn.

Naimorai says, “Hello Goblyn.”

Naimorai nods at Goblyn.

Speaking cheerfully to Naimorai, Goblyn says, “Hello, Naimorai.”

Irar says, “I don’t think I’ve ever prayed with kappas in attendance.”

Naimorai takes some green velvet slippers on slim curved heels off her feet.

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar asks, “I extended an offer to your mother to pray with you. Would you like to do so?”

Naimorai lets her toes touch the dark waters of the bay as they roll up onto the shore.

Naimorai says, “Yes, but not here.”

Irar nods at Naimorai.

Naimorai says, “Deacon Irar..”

Naimorai asks, “Have you ever been to the Temple of the Steps?”

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar says, “I haven’t.”

Speaking to Naimorai, Ysharra says, “Lovely flowers on your bodice, there.”

Naimorai says, “Eyes on your own.”

Naimorai begins chuckling at Ysharra!

Naimorai says, “Thank you.”

Mynon says, “Turamzzyr, yes.”

Naimorai nods at Mynon.

Naimorai asks, “Would you like to visit it, this night?”

Naimorai peers quizzically at Irar.

**Speaking to Naimorai, Irar says, “I’m afraid I’ve never visited the capital. My duties have kept me here, and I am not from the
Empire.”**

Speaking to Naimorai, Ysharra says, “Mhm. I’m just a ranger, I notice floral symbols.”

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar asks, “You could do this?”

Naimorai says, “I could.”

Irar peers quizzically at Naimorai.

Naimorai asks, “Do you wish it Deacon?”

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar asks, “But how?”

Naimorai says, “It is in Tamzzyr.”

Irar nods at Naimorai.

Irar asks, “I understand that… But quite a distance, no?”

Naimorai says, “For you? Yes.”

Naimorai asks, “For a Kestrel of the Hall?”

Naimorai chuckles.

Naimorai waves her hand in a dismissive gesture.

Irar whispers to the group, “The Temple of the Steps is the headquarters of the Church of Koar.”

Irar begins chuckling at Naimorai!

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar says, “I suppose mine was a silly question, then.”

Naimorai asks, “Those do not exist, do they?”

Naimorai stands up.

Naimorai leans on Irar as she slowly puts on her slippers.

Naimorai puts some green velvet slippers on slim curved heels onto her feet.

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar says, “I do appreciate your assistance in helping me visit there..”

Irar nods.

Naimorai nods.

Naimorai says, “The city is still alive and active this time of night.”

Irar smiles at Naimorai.

Naimorai says, “You are all welcome to come as well.”

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar says, “I look forward to it, then.”

Naimorai says, “Many of you have probably been there recently, for the Emperor’s wedding.”

Evia says, “Yes.”

Evia says, “They had wonderful wine nearby.”

Evia nods.

Naimorai says, “I do not know if much will be open however.”

Naimorai nods at Evia.

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar says, “No matter, if that’s where you’d like to go for prayer, it’s where we’ll be.”

Irar grins at Naimorai.

Goblyn gives a sidelong glance at Naimorai.

Naimorai says, “You may need to, comb your hair.”

Naimorai nods to where Goblyn was.

Naimorai smirks.

You hear someone chortling nearby.

The voice of Goblyn asks, “This is.. me who will need to comb my hair?”

Irar asks, “Is that all it takes to scare Goblyn off? Tell her to comb?”

Irar snickers.

Goblyn shakes her head at Irar and clucks her tongue.

Goblyn whispers something to Irar.

Goblyn mumbles something under her breath.

Goblyn tries to pat her hair down, but to no avail — it floats right back up into the air.

Goblyn sighs with frustration.

Naimorai closes her palms, tucking her fingers into her hands, balling her fists. For a moment, she winces, as if in pain, but tries to hide it, and recovers quickly.

The voice of Goblyn piquedly says, “They will just not see my hair being.. the way it is.”

Speaking to Naimorai, Ysharra asks, “You know we all saw that, right?”

Naimorai says, “The guards were rough.”

Naimorai says, “I am still healing.”

Naimorai smiles at Ysharra.

Cruxophim gently inquires, “Are you alright?”

Naimorai says, “…yes.”

Speaking to Naimorai, Ysharra says, “Tell me which ones. I can have a conversation with them. A worse threat than that might follow.”

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar asks, “Will you be alright transporting us there?”

Naimorai utters a small phrase, her fingers uncurling. For a moment there appears to be some streaks of blood in one of her palms, but she is quick to conceal within the sleeves of her cloak. A speck of blue light begins to form.

Naimorai says, “The guards were not of sound mind. The blue orphan forced them to.”

Emindala glances suspiciously at Naimorai.

Naimorai says, “It was not their fault.”

Naimorai glances at Emindala.

Dazmar glances at a dark blue portal.

Naimorai nods.

Naimorai joins Irar’s group.

Irar says, “Through the portal, then.”

Irar nods at Naimorai.

Naimorai peers quizzically at Ysharra.

Irar’s group just went through a dark blue portal.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Exploring Tamzzyr ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

[Tamzzyr, Chaston’s Way]
The grand boulevard stretches out far and wide, its cobbled roads masterfully crafted and pristine, yet still holding the faintest hint of use from both the passage of feet and time. On the far western end of the Grand Imperial Plaza, the majestic palace which houses the Sun Throne raises high into the sky, its grandiose walls gleaming in the bright moonlight above. You also see a dark blue portal.

Naimorai whispers something to Ysharra.

Irar blinks.

Naimorai says, “I do not suspect there will be much for many of you to do here, but walk and talk.”

Naimorai says, “The Temple is further along.”

Naimorai nods at Irar.

Irar’s group just went east.

[Tamzzyr, Chaston’s Way]
The boulevard expands from west to east, with a long flagstone road connecting all sections of the plaza. Seen just over the nearby rooftops of imperial homes, the high domed ceiling of the Hall of Mages ascends into view, the top crowned by various moonlit golden hawk statues. An occasional blue-robed figure moves briskly about the shadowy roadway, heads bowed while on the way to late evening tasks.

Irar’s group just went east.

[Tamzzyr, Chaston’s Way]
Polished marble facades and decorated buildings stretch all along the road like a rising and falling stonework sea. The lanes here are crowded at worst, with an occasional traveler quickly rushing through the streets. Imperial soldiers dutifully patrol the area, their gleaming armor emblazoned with a crimson sunburst on a field of gold.

Irar says, “I apologize my Lady, I do not know the way.”

Irar designates Naimorai as the new leader of the group.

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar asks, “If you could show us?”

Irar smiles at Naimorai.

Naimorai points north.

Naimorai says, “First, let us see if they have Evia’s wine….”

Lady Naimorai’s group just went north.

[Tamzzyr, Rallick Lane]
Running north and south along the Grand Imperial Plaza, the road here is bordered by various tents and wooden booths, as well an increase in soldiers and pedestrian crowds. A number of heraldic crests can be seen upon some of the more elaborate pavilions, ranging from Hendor, to Seareach, to Estoria, and Bourth.

Lady Naimorai’s group just went north.

[Tamzzyr, Rallick Lane]
The highly polished walls of imperial buildings and palaces dot the horizon, and merchants constantly hawk their wares, their voices rising in a mingled, blurred chorus. A refreshingly cool breeze gives a temporary respite from the closely packed congestion of vendors and journeymen. You also see a wheeled cherrywood cart with some stuff on it.

Naimorai asks, “Do you wish anything?”

Naimorai peers quizzically at Irar.

Naimorai indicates a wheeled cherrywood cart as a possible option.

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar says, “…Apologies my Lady.”

Irar pours himself a glass of green apple wine.

Irar nods at Naimorai.

Naimorai nods.

Naimorai says, “Excellent choice Deacon.”

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar says, “A little wine will do me well right now, I think.”

Irar blushes a nice shade of rosy pink.

Irar takes a drink from his green apple wine.

Irar says, “I wasn’t sure I’d get to see the capital again.”

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar says, “Thank you.”

Lady Naimorai’s group just went south.
Lady Naimorai’s group just went south.
Lady Naimorai’s group just went east.

[Tamzzyr, Chaston’s Way]
White-clad priests gather in selective pockets along the road here, many conducting whispered prayer vigils in honor of the Godking Koar. The area is less stifled here, but a great deal of imperial soldiers still stand about, their eyes sharply scanning the region, with hands seemingly attached to the handle of their sheathed blades.

Speaking to Naimorai, Evia says, “Thank you for bringing us to the lucious wine.”

Evia smiles.

Naimorai smiles.

Naimorai says, “Of course.”

Lady Naimorai’s group just went east.

[Tamzzyr, Chaston’s Way]
Dominating the eastern end of the imperial plaza is the Temple of Steps, the splendid and towering home of the empire’s Patriarch of the Church of Koar. Followers of the church and traveling pilgrims worship in casual groupings at the base of the temple, some even slowly moving to perch at various alcoves chiseled into the great stairs of the building. Both imperial janissaries and white-armored soldiers survey the area with watchful eyes and taut faces.

A small boy runs up, a wooden sword in his hand. He runs up to Cryheart.

The young boy says, “A knight, a knight a knight!”

(Cryheart smiles at the boy.)

The young boy says, “What order are you Sir Knight?” What order?”

Cryheart says, “Hello lad.”

Cryheart says, “Order of the Silver Gryphon.”

Cryheart taps a black enameled bracer with a silver gryphon set in a ruby circle that he is wearing.

The young boy looks confused, “…who?”

Cryheart says, “Order of the Silver Gryphon, lad.”

The young boy says, “The Silver Shields of Immuron?”

Cryheart says, “Nae.”

Cryheart taps a black enameled bracer with a silver gryphon set in a ruby circle that he is wearing.

Cryheart smiles.

Shinann says, “I know Osment.”

Shinann asks, “Do you?”

(Shinann smiles at the boy.)

The young boy shrugs, looks slightly disappointed, then runs off.

Shinann says, “Well… he was of that order.”

Cryheart yells, “My father was a captain of the silver shields!”

Naimorai grins at Shinann.

Naimorai says, “He was.”

Cryheart says, “Boy runs too fast.”

Cryheart starts chortling.

Shinann smiles at Naimorai.

Cryheart says, “Silver Shields is a famous guard of Immuron..for those who dinnae know.”

Naimorai asks, “You have not been here?”

Naimorai peers quizzically at Irar.

Naimorai points at some great stairs.

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar says, “I’d quite forgotten… I was briefly here with others before I was Deacon.”

Naimorai nods.

Naimorai says, “Tonight is more special.”

Lady Naimorai’s group just climbed up some great stairs.

[Temple of the Steps, Ascent]
The stairs of the great holy sanctuary climb up from the road like a giant marble monolith, the glow of the sun kissing every step as it rises higher to the heavens. Skillfully carved into various sides of the steps are curved alcoves, each one snugly fit with a detailed stone statue in the likeness of members of Liabo and Lornon, each one knelt in reverence.

Irar peers quizzically at Naimorai.

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar asks, “Oh?”

Naimorai says, “I am here.”

Naimorai moves along the stretch of the temple’s steps.

Lady Naimorai’s group just went up.

[Temple of the Steps, Ascent]
The polished white steps of the temple continue to rise, the street below growing smaller and smaller as they do. Pilgrims and devout worshippers offer quiet prayers and dedication to many of the kneeling Arkati statues placed about.

Speaking to Naimorai, Irar says, “That you are.”

Naimorai moves along the stretch of the temple’s steps.

Lady Naimorai’s group just went up.

[Temple of the Steps, Ascent]
The high climb of the steps comes to an end here, expanding out into a broad pale-tiled platform decorated with marble pillars meticulously carved with symbols of Koar. The street below looks diminutive at this height, as if the imposing temple was cradled just at the base of the heavens themselves. Set into a long alabaster wall are a set of immense decorated oak doors.

Lady Naimorai’s group just went into some huge oak doors.

[Temple of the Steps, Entry]
The room is aglow from the ever present fire of countless sconces and candles, bathing the area in a warm and inviting light. Hushed voices and prayers carry through the entry, their origins coming from nearby antechambers. Rising from the center of the room is a huge gold-speckled white marble statue, and imperial janissaries stand guard at the various entryways throughout the space.

Lady Naimorai’s group just went north.

[Temple of Steps, Grand Hall]
The pure white marble floor holds a flawless polish and has been designed to showcase a sizeable golden crown inlaid in the center of the hall. Robed servants move dutifully throughout the chamber, disappearing behind the wooden doors or enameled pillars. A faint hymn hangs in the air, the mixture of voices both melodic and youthful. A flight of vast marble stairs leads up to a second floor enclosed by ornate steel railings.

Irar beams!

Irar says, “Dear Koar…”

Irar gazes in wonder at his surroundings.

Naimorai says, “I would like some time to ourselves Deacon.”

Naimorai asks, “Perhaps you will join me in the Sun Garden?”

Irar nods at Naimorai.

Naimorai nods.

Emindala glances at Naimorai.

Naimorai says, “The rest, well, you are free to roam or return, however you wish.”

Naimorai designates Subarashi as the new leader of the group.

Naimorai steps forward, locking her arm with Irar, and they walk off into a further area of the Temple.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Waiting Game ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

[while everyone waits, some people go for a walk or head off to speak elsewhere]

A white-robed man walks by, black hair grown along his head, but a few faint scars can be seen along his scalp, resembling some sort of shape. He speaks with some other priests nearby, and they walk off carrying some tomes.

A stout dwarven man in a pale robe and a purple beard walks by, thumbing some ivory prayerbeads as he walks between two young female acolytes. He seems to have the women engaged, telling them some jokes and offering to pray with them. Suddenly, the purple-bearded dwarf sees the crowd, notices some faces, winks, and walks off with the acolytes.

[During the next 30-40 minutes, some of the group splits up to explore. The group in front of the steps eventually quiets down and Cryheart leads them off somewhere. Leafi doesn’t go along, wanting to wait for Irar, but after Phelicidea convinces her that for all they know Naimorai has already taken Irar away with a portal, she goes invisible and wanders about. However, it’s not long before…]

[Temple of the Steps, Archives]
Marbled white and gold floors stretch along the vast library, strips of soft rugs providing some measure of silence from the traffic of visitors. Elongated gold-inlaid dark oak bookcases line each available wall, with rows and rows of various tomes, volumes, and scrolls. Claw-footed armchairs are carefully organized throughout the room, each one partnered with a finely polished maoral table. Side-parted golden damask drapes hang over tall arched windows, allowing the perfect amount of illumination.
Also here: Lord Xorus, Subarashi who is sitting, Maylan, Lord Thrassus, Ysharra, Grand Lord Beldannon, Goblyn, Mayor Cruxophim, Magister Raelee, Sir Mynon

Some young white-robed acolytes wander by, “…did you see the raven-haired woman in the garden? I haven’t seen her before…I thought we’d spy something with that Deacon and her….but she handed him some vial and almost saw us…but man oh man I’m glad we saw her…” They wander off.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Irar Returns; Naimorai Stays ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

[everyone both here and in Cryheart’s group returns to where they saw Irar last]

Through the temple, Irar arrives.

Irar says, “It’s time to go.”

Irar says, “A moment.”

You curiously ask, “And where is Naimorai?”

Goldstr says, “Members folks Was a vial er Muss Gobyln slipped Naimorai jess afore Lana was sickened.”

Cryheart says, “Ye lead.”

Irar disbands his group.

Irar just went south.

Irar just arrived.

You glance south.

Irar just went south.

Irar just arrived.

Irar says, “On me.”

Irar slowly empties his lungs.

Irar says, “All ready to go? Moving.”

Speaking calmly to Irar, Cruxophim inquires, “Everything alright?”

Irar nods at Cruxophim.

Throwing your voice behind Irar, you curiously ask, “So where is Naimorai, again?”

Irar says, “She’s staying to pray.”

You diplomatically offer, “And does she perhaps still need more aid with praying?”

Shinann asks, “Yes, where is she?”

You evenly comment, “Many clerics here, after all.”

[traveling back to the portal]

Irar says, “I… can’t remember which way.”

[but he finds the way]

Irar asks, “Everyone ready?”

Cruxophim looks thoughtfully at Irar.

Shinann asks, “Where is Naimorai?”

Irar says, “She’s staying.”

Shinann ponders.

Cruxophim wryly muses, “I’ll go find her.”

Mayor Cruxophim just went east.

You amicably say, “Please do.”

You say, “Ah… ran off already.”

[…so Leafi follows, still invisible. Crux returns before she does, neither of them finding anything (at least I’m pretty sure based on how quickly Crux went back), and by the time Leafiara returns to the portal everyone is back outside Moot Hall.]

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Banter Outside Moot Hall ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

A silvery fog envelops you. You feel a sudden lurching motion, and as the fog dissipates you see…
[Town Square, East]
fire wyrdling entered the room.
Here in the center of a broad plaza near the commercial area of the bazaar stands the impressive facade of the slate-roofed Moot Hall, where the citizens of Wehnimer’s Landing hold various official, religious and social functions. Facing the square are some of the town’s more prosperous shops, still doing business with the many customers who still frequent the streets at night.

You join Irar.

Irar designates Cruxophim as the new leader of the group.

Irar smiles at Cruxophim.

Irar asks, “Were you all just stuck standing about the temple?”

Irar says, “I could hear your thoughts, by the way. I appreciate your concern… But not your presumptions.”

Irar squints at Cruxophim.

You innocently say, “Not our fault you’re a golem now.”

Evia says, “What thoughts, we didn’t think at all, we were vigilantly guarding the area.”

Irar says, “I prayed with the Lady, whose nightmares are many. I hope that she finds peace in faith.”

Irar nods.

Cruxophim nonchalantly remarks, “Doesn’t seem like a golem to me.”

Throwing your voice behind Cruxophim, you nonchalantly tease, “Of course not. I’m only joking.”

You chortle from the shadows.

Cruxophim examines Irar closely, sizing him up and taking note of all the details.

Irar says, “I was glad to see the Temple. Though I did admit I’d hoped to see a Prelate or two.”

Deckits asks, “Maybe.. the Mayor’s a golem??”

Deckits examines Cruxophim closely, sizing him up and taking note of all the details.

Deckits starts chortling.

Speaking to Irar, Shinann says, “I suppose even if she shared what her nightmares were, you could not tell us…”

Cruxophim pinches himself hard.

Goblyn can offer Deckits only a blank expression.

Throwing your voice behind Deckits, you wryly say, “That wouldn’t surprise me.”

Irar says, “I don’t THINK I’m a golem… yet.”

Irar waggles his fingers mystically at Goblyn. How nice.

Goblyn blinks at Irar.

Goblyn laughs at Irar!

Throwing your voice behind Irar, you suspiciously ask, “So then how about a bit of a test to prove it?”

You giggle.

Irar says, “And I’m fairly certain I still admire roa’ters. So there’s that.”

Cruxophim nods absently at Irar.

Speaking amusedly to Irar, Goblyn says, “I did not think you were a golem, Irar.”

Cryheart says, “Wait until ye get swallowed by a Crawler.”

Speaking firmly to Irar, Goblyn says, “But you wagging your finger this way… you are -not- a golem.”

Arnylon says, “We can always test if he’s a golem. Quickly someone dispatch him. We’ll see if he explodes.”

Irar begins chuckling at Goblyn!

You seriously reason, “After all, people are very suspicious around here. You know people will raise questions unless you go through a test, no matter how silly it might be.”

Goblyn can offer Arnylon only a blank expression.

Irar says, “Give your test. I’ll take it. So long as it’s not math.”

You affably ask, “Excellent. Mayor?”

You laugh out loud!

Cruxophim begins a careful examination of Irar — he takes his pulse, checks his temperature, and checks for broken bones or any other ailments.

You amusedly say, “I can’t believe this is what it’s come to.”

Goblyn whispers something to Irar.

Speaking affably to Irar, Cruxophim concludes, “No, not a golem — just half roa’ter, however… THAT works.”

Goblyn grins impishly at Irar.

Goblyn gawks at Irar.

Goblyn gasps.

Ulkov amusedly asks, “Wait, are we seriously contemplating checking the deacon for golemness?”

Goblyn scowls at Irar.

Ulkov bursts out in a sudden snort of laughter.

You interestedly say, “Oh, how fascinating.”

Irar grins at Goblyn.

Goblyn glares at Irar.

Throwing your voice behind Ulkov, you bemusedly say, “Already done before you could even question it.”

You begin to giggle, then burst out in a silly laugh.

Cruxophim wryly muses, “I was asked to.”

Goblyn nods at Arnylon.

You sincerely say, “I was joking, truly, but you have to admit this was hilarious.”

Irar says, “I’m not sure how you test for Irar-ness.”

Goblyn laughs!

Irar grins.

Goblyn joins Irar’s group.

Goblyn offers Irar a vanilla cheesecake stuffed with brandied saffron apricots.

Cruxophim joins Irar’s group.

Irar accepts Goblyn’s vanilla cheesecake.

Irar smiles at Goblyn.

Throwing your voice behind Irar, you somberly say, “I do know better than to ask you to break church confidentiality… so I’ll just say I hope you’re helping her find peace.”

Irar says, “I hope so too.”

Irar says, “Evening, all.”

Irar’s group just went west.

The Temple of the Steps provided a rare opportunity. The background of what my dark warlock nominally “does” over the past centuries is spreading forbidden knowledge and heretical texts, primarily among humans, often using hidden messages beneath seemingly banal documents. One method I’ve invented is the enchanted palimpsest. Ordinary palimpsests have trace remnants of texts hidden beneath newer ones, these days we can largely recover them with advanced scanning technology.

The idea of the magic palimpsest is that there is hidden text “erased” beneath something else. Then when you put it into contact with some other parchment, the texts transfer between them. The palimpsest looks the same, the other document completely changes. This is the most effective way of correcting the Church of Koar holy tomes of their errors when you’re surrounded by imperials. In fact, I was so preoccupied with this idea, I didn’t even think of blasting Cruxophim’s limbs off to roll him down the stairs.

An error on my part, which I corrected, but managed to do so erroneously again.

I told Naimorai I’d never been to the capital or the Temple, but a few folks seemed to question this, implying that I had been there. When prompted by this, I remembered Chaston’s rally at the Imperial Temple, and corrected myself to the Lady Naimorai and several present. I thought this is what folks were referring to. However, that Temple was the Taladorian Temple of Koar, not the one in Tamzyrr. So Irar has not been to the temple before.

Irar wasn’t at the Emperor’s wedding. I was taking a break from the game then, and IC Irar was still in the Landing, mopping up the mess Chaston had made of the local congregation. It was off-screen, but that’s the story and I’m sticking to it.

Apologies for the confusion. Chock it up to a failing and roa’tery mind. I’d convinced myself Irar had been to the capital based off the Chaston rally thing, but that was Irar being in Talador. I do so hate continuity errors 😉

Here Irar requested folks behave, and Xorus goes about implanting dark blasphemy in the holiest temple in the Empire. #Landingproblems

That’s the beauty of it. It is the one who removes the palimpsest that implants the dark blasphemy.

There was no blood rain on the temple steps, no dismembered bodies rolling down them…

I wasn’t in the room when this happened, but does anyone else think this could be Disean? Was trying to find a log of him with hair. If anyone has one, please verify if it was black.

You see Disean Andrews the Acolyte of the Church of Koar.
He appears to be a Human.
He is tall and appears to be very young. He has bright steel grey eyes and tanned skin. He has a bald head. He has a clean-shaven face, a thin nose, and a broad chest. A ring of fresh scars in the shape of a crown have been burnt into the flesh of his head.

Both his parents had/have fair hair. But, that was a former Blameless, I would guess. I honestly can’t remember if all Blameless had those scars or not. I know some were redeemed, but just wondering who that might have been. Anyway, not sure if we were shown that for a reason, but time will tell, I suppose.

Also, when Shinann said that Osment was a member of the Silver Shields, Naimorai grinned and said, “Yes, he was.” I smiled at her but was thinking if that meant more than just verifying what Shinann said. Like wondering if he made it back to them.

Anyway… just a few OOC ramblings.

I think the scarred man might have just been a reformed Blameless. A lot of them had the scars. It’s not impossible that it could be Disean, but it seems unlikely to me that Thadston wouldn’t know his son was in the capital. IIRC, once Chaston was defeated his hold over some of the Blameless and clergy was broken.

Yeah, I thought about that. I knew the hold was broken. It just caught my eye. Well, he left with the witch disguised as his mother… left or taken. So, was just speculating since they only saw a few messages that night. Probably not him.

Crux certainly wasn’t going to dignify that with a response, because GOOD LUCK getting an automaton to convincingly emulate the insurmountable complexities, baffling contradictions, and aggravation-inducing idiosyncrasies that comprise his personality, heh.

>>That’s the beauty of it. It is the one who removes the palimpsest that implants the dark blasphemy.

Brilliant!!

I doubt it, as I feel like there would have been more emphasis placed upon the sighting if such were the case.

I presumed it to be a more generalized allusion to the scars from Chaston‘s “converted” or a similar reference, and to illustrate the passing of time (and the more metaphorical healing of scars) for those who were once taken in by the thrall of “Chaznel“.

Oh, hah… late reply, but yeah — I concur with Irar, but doubt we’ve seen the last of Disean.

Our characters don’t know what happened to Disean, but the Eyes of the Dawn epilogue does: http://forums.play.net/forums/GemStone%20IV/Towns/Wehnimer's%20Landing/view/10246

He’s a prisoner, or at least was after that story. There’s no telling where he is now or what Raznel is up to, of course… but I’d still be surprised (and maybe even a little upset!) if it was Disean, since Leafiara should instantly recognize the person who saved her from the cleansing camp. She owes him literally everything.

Yes, I know our characters don’t know, hence me making an OOC post just to speculate. No telling what the witch is doing at this point. Only time will tell. Just something I didn’t see that night and threw out some thoughts. Naimorai kept saying to look around, so I don’t know if that was to ACTUALLY see anything or just to keep us occupied.

Shinann and I both love speculating. We are usually wrong, but we still like to do it.

Also, Shinann felt so creeped out even being there, that even though she got some water, she ended up not taking one sip. I just kept thinking of the Greek Myth of Hades and Persephone. Ha! She didn’t want to get trapped. The last time she was there, was the wedding and Chaston wasn’t a KNOWN villain. However, once she observed him for several minutes she told the person she was with that she had to get away from that guy… he just gave off a wicked aura.

Naimorai’s comment was to Cryheart, or someone I forget, who asked if her father was part of the Silver Shields. Sorry for any confusion.

Oh yeah! Duh. Shinann even talked to Osment about that. Gah, my brain. I’m pulling up the Wiki page before I open my mouth again about any of those Empire Orders! It was Cryheart that said his father was a member of the Silver Shields.

You know, as a side note, this story has more twists and turns than a country road in Mississippi! If you’re working on driving any of us crazy; you might have succeeded with me!
