Subj: Offline experience
At the end of the day yesterday (meaning early this morning) I had used two longterm boosts and my sorcerer had 500 points in his long-term pool. The announcement of the experience changes says that long-term experience absorbs at a rate of 250 per day, and from what I noticed in the past it happens right at the beginning of the new day (9PM for me here on the west coast). So, since I hunted my sorcerer after that time, he should still have 500 experience in his long-term pool this morning.

I just logged him in, and he has 0 in his long-term pool.

I do not know if the 500 was absorbed or not, but something definitely is not working the way it was announced. I have thought I had seen similar problems with my other characters over the last couple of weeks, but since I had not logged them in as soon after hunting I was not sure.

I’m not deeply worried about 500 experience at the moment, but can this be looked at to make sure the system is working as it should?

Thanks,

–David

If you’re still during Lumnis, it doesn’t absorb at all. (Or maybe ONLY while you’re offline. Haven’t checked & don’t recall.)

There had previously been issues where a daily block (250) would absorb when you logged back in again, but that was supposedly fixed.

Right. It should absorb offline. But only 250 per day. I lost 500 in the course of one day somehow. Even if it were absorbing offline, it should not have happened yet, since I got it after midnight eastern this morning. And in any case it should not just disappear.

Adding to this thread, about an hour ago I claimed 2 long term boosts during a hunt. After the hunt I checked my exp and remember seeing my long term exp pool at 494 (I’m not in gift anymore, so a few were absorbed with pulses). I then logged off the character for 15-20 minutes while I was on an alt. When I logged back in, Cinto has 0 long term exp now.

I don’t know if this was instantly absorbed or just vanished, as I had sadly not taken note of the Exp to next level before logging out. However it does appear something is not working properly. 🙂

I just saw this again. This morning I hunted my monk and used three longterm boosts. He therefore had 750 in his longterm pool. It is now a new day, so he should have absorbed 250 of that pool. Instead, he is at zero. Again, I do not know if the experience was absorbed or not. I’ll try to keep track of it next time, but in anything something is not working as announced.

I believe that I’ve found the source of this issue (you were absorbing all the exp, the system was giving extra pulses when it shouldn’t have). If you’re online right now, you may still get an extra pulse, but everything should properly resync after that.

Not sure if bug but….

I logged in this morning and the first message was my lumnis (serenity leaving) ending, without any exp pulse.

I thought that looked strange since I had no exp digested on the first pulse and also thought it strange because I thought you couldn’t use up Lumnis minutes while logged off.

Is everything working properly with my Lumnis?

I hope this is the area. With exp absorption going on while not connected, I would think Lumnis would also keep going until tapped. Especially since Lumnis isn’t time-based anymore.

Lumnis is definitely working correctly. It’s point-based, not pulse-based.

So this message would seem to indicate that my lumnis continued to run after I logged off due to me having a full head when I logged out. I came back clear as a bell and my lumnis promptly ended when I logged in, so that means the timer continued to tick offline.

There is no timer any more. It’s all points based.

If you had 1000 exp in your head and 300 points of Lumnis left, you’ll absorb a total of 1300 experience and your Lumnis will be done, regardless of whether you’re online or offline. If you’re online, it’ll take just over an hour on a node. If you’re offline, it’ll take 11 hours, 10 minutes. The end result: how much lumnis you used, how much experience you absorbed, will be exactly the same.

I’m not certain, but it does not appear to me that exp absorbed offline is counting toward restoring CON lost due to death. I’ve not regained my last two CON points in a while, and I’ve absorbed way more than 4000 exp points in that timeframe, pretty much all offline.

If you don’t want this to happen, you can turn offline experience off. (Only actually an exp gain for a character that wouldn’t use their full Lumnis the next week)
