This evening, on Keeping Up with the Kestrels:

Grand Magister Dennet greeted the people of Landing on the Hearthstone Porch, where he was updated on the prior night’s events[1] during polite conversation. With a refreshing lack of reticence, he admitted and confirmed that his son, Cyph — now missing for a week and a half — was indeed none other than the entity of unnatural blue flame that had been spotted in the Landing environs (and near the Faendryl Enclave) on a few occasions prior; the sudden revelation was perhaps motivated by urgency, as Cyph is believed to have been wounded by a poison bolt fired by Carenos, sworn enemy of Dennet. Many believed the bolt to have been tipped with a toxin so severe, Cyph would almost certainly shuffle off this mortal coil in a spectacularly grisly fashion were he not found and treated with expediency. Kayse provided Dennet with a sample of said toxin collected from the aforementioned bolt, in the hopes that a cure may yet be found.

As a show of goodwill, the citizens and volunteers of the Landing divided into several large search parties in an attempt to try and locate the wayward son, while Dennet worked to prepare one of the bane coffins[2] implemented by the Hall of Mages that would safely contain Cyph‘s presumably infected body and, uh… “fiery” disposition. Eventually, one of the groups stumbled onto a whole slew of huge cerulean fire elementals spawned by Cyph, and — surprising no one — utter chaos ensued, to the tune of many deaths and such fire, much burninating. Cyph, in full flame-on mode, was spotted careening through the sky over the Landing. The various groups eventually reconvened on Dennet; however, all attempts to capture the blue meanie ultimately proved fruitless, because… flying.

Cyph was last seen taking off into the night sky.

After the fires were put out and all was calm again, Dennet suggested that some heavy modification to the bane coffin would allow for a greater chance of success, and proposed that we gather individuals who are skilled at elemental air manipulation to assist; using the power of Science, Raelee suggested that air deprivation would have the additional benefit of perhaps extinguishing the flames. Currently, one presumes that Dennet will be looking for air-attuned individuals who might assist with this task in the very near future.

Stay tuned!

[Disclaimer: If anyone knows any of the above to be inaccurate or in need of further clarification, do feel free. Unfortunately, I had quite a bit of technical trouble tonight, so if you noticed anything omitted… same deal.]

Flaming Cyph Action Clips:
A lithe blue fiery figure rises into the night, a brilliant azure glow rippling outward from around him. A patch of his side is darkened, appearing like a pool of oil. The flame creature screams, bolts of blue fire erupting out from his arms and hands, striking all around the Upper Trollfang and Lower Dragonsclaw forest.
The blue fiery figure soars through the sky, near the town of Wehnimer’s Landing. He bellows loudly, “…stay….away!”
The blue fire figure soars through the sky, and some militia archers from the West Tower of town take aim and fire! Arrows fly out and up, one even striking the figure! The crank of the ballista can be heard turning. The blue fiery figure roars loudly, turns, and unleashed a spiraling column of blue fire at the West Tower, igniting its roof on fire as the guards scream in agony!
A blue fiery figure soars overhead suddenly, then turns sharply, climbing higher and higher into the night sky before it disappears altogether amidst the darkness. Long moments pass, and no other sighting occurs.

>[1] Last night, a terrified young girl in critical condition was found; despite the tender ministrations of Myasarie and others gathered, and the temporary curative power of plinite, she eventually expired in a quite gruesome mess of exploding pustules and melting flesh that crumbled (liquefied?) into nothing. One presumes that Dennet‘s sudden bout of honesty may be motivated by a desire to not see his son share the same fate.

>[2] The bane coffins were previously (and one assumes, continue to be) used by the Hall to contain dangerous individuals; they effectively function as stasis chambers, safely sealing away whoever is inside in a magic-proof… well, coffin. They were previously used to imprison both Drangell and Stone.
