Bekke Theorizes The Blood Marble Must Be Destroyed

Bekke theorizes about Chaston and Blood Marble – and it isn’t good. The Blood Marble Must Be Destroyed

A few evenings ago, the Prelate Chaston Griffin delivered a number of Half-Elves to Wehnimer’s Landing via warship-guarded cargo ships. We assumed these prisoners were deposited for his objective regarding cleansing.

We were correct.

A few evenings afterward, as Stormyrain has reported, an acrid black smoke began to permeate the Landing. I immediately thought- bodies, and a few of us went to investigate.

Again, we were correct.

A glimpse through the barricade afforded us a sight that was rather difficult for me, a Half-Elf, to see: Beyond the crack, barely glimpsed, three half-elves are dragged off in chains, red spots all over their arms and legs. They look pale and weak. A half-krolvin prisoner is brought into view, then tossed aside.

I believe these Half-Elves are being bled, then tossed aside to the fires when they are of no further use. Someone asked me, if I am correct in the assumption they are being bled for a purpose, why then would he throw them away – and my response was simple – there are many more to come who will easily fill those vacancies. I ask you to look at the cargo ships for the sheer numbers and scope of his reach.

The fury over this injustice caused me to redouble my efforts and experimentation regarding the blood marble, which I believe to be both created of blood, and at least in part one of Chaston’s methods of control over those he forces under his spell.

A discussion with Cruxophim, wherein he encouraged me to remain firm to the mantra ‘anything is possible’, led me to redouble my thoughts regarding the situation: The blood marble must be destroyed.

Random thoughts of an Earth Mage regarding HOW this may be done:
Marble, in and of itself, is a metamorphic rock, meaning it is composed of, essentially, something else. The most common element in the creation of marble is limestone, which is then recrystallized into marble. It is important to note that most limestone is created with residuals of a biologic element; PURE marble is white. It has no impurities, therefore no residual mineral impurities. Any marble with color, or with veins, therefore, does contain mineral impurities.

This is a glimpse of the piece upon which I am experimenting: The blood marble is highly polished and veins of crimson hue stretch across its smooth white surface.

Therefore, based on my research, the Prelate is using impure marble.

So, the question remains, how does one counter the effects of the Prelate’s marble?

I have two thoughts, neither of which may be plausible, but both of which could be a possibility.

1. Attempt to revert the marble back to its original state of limestone, even in part. To do so, even remotely, would weaken the marble exponentially. Anyone who has attempted to destroy it (I’m looking at you, Ronanites) noted immediately that it seemed indestructible. If reverted, we know limestone is soft, and easily damaged by both sword and common acids. Again, the reversion need not be complete- a simple compromising of the marble’s composition could prove vastly beneficial.
2. The second option could be to attempt a purification of the blood marble, thus removing the impurities, thereby potentially removing the power the impurities impart for the wielder.

Again, how does one go about either of these options? Earth Mages have been working with such things for centuries:
“Magical reinforcement of structures can be applied. Traditionally, this type of magic took several years and was reserved for the most vital structures, such as the city walls and palaces of the Nations. In the late 4900s, a new spell was developed which produces a poor facsimile of the traditional reinforcement, but with a fraction of the time investment. This has proved very popular with wealthy merchants and others who cannot obtain a true reinforcing from royal mages, but wish their houses and storefronts additional protection from inclement weather or hostile forces.”

Therefore, I end with a line from my own personal mantra:
Power is in all things; therefore power is also in all that is not. Because there is Truth in all things, there is no Truth in anything. There is no IS, only what is willed to be. A Mage must understand this. A Mage must live this. A Mage must be all that is, and all that is not. Because Power is in all things, then in Nothing lies even greater Power. This is what a Mage must come to learn.

Anything is possible, even for Half-Elves.

Obviously, I love this. Tonight’s events would seem to support the theory that blood marble is made of (gasp!) blood, as well.
