Subj: Requiem for the Rowers
Life is a fleeting thing and these past weeks we have lost those who have served tirelessly for so long. This Feastday (Saturday) at 9 as the elves tell time, the Wyvern’s Honor will be sponsoring a memorial service for the crew members of the Lake of Fear ferry. Please join us as we gather in King’s Court before Legionnaire Krystalena leads us onto the frozen lake for the service. All are welcome, as this will be a loosely structured open forum where everyone can pay their respects and remember the ones we have lost.

This is the log of the memorial service given by the Wyvern’s Honor for the ferry crew. We met at King’s Court then went out onto the lake. Anything said without a name was said by Legionnaire Krystalena Zoktavir)

“One evening several weeks ago while we were defending the fortress, the ferry crew was busily rowing across the lake.
Little did they know that their usual trip would go horribly wrong”

“We all heard the sounds within the fortress of instant freezing.
We did not begin to think something like the lake instantly freezing was happening”

“Their cries echoed across the rapidly forming ice as the ferry was destroyed
We can only hope their deaths were instantaneous”

Krystalena removes a large sunflower from in your leather backpack.

“Their duty they carried out with little complaint that was heard by the passengers.
From the first light of the sun they rowed”

Krystalena carefully places a large sunflower on the ground.

Krystalena removes a nightbloom blossom from in your leather backpack.

“In the darkest of night they rowed.
If we needed passage, they were there within 15 minutes to perform their duty.”

Krystalena carefully places a nightbloom blossom on the ground.

(Ciyuka feels a tear slip down her cheek from under her closed eyes.)

You remove a sprig of rosemary from in your leather backpack.
You feel more refreshed.

“We gather in the middle of the lake to remember them.
To honor them
To say our farewells
Though we do not know them well, we know they had a love of wine, a fear of the creature in the lake, and an occasional curiousity for what lies at the shore the captain would never let them row to”

Krystalena carefully places a sprig of rosemary on the ground.

Krystalena removes a fragrant white lily from in your leather backpack.

(Ciyuka feels a few more tears slipping down her cheeks.)

Ciyuka sniffs.

“We place lilies here to symbolize the purification of their spirits
as they pass beyond the gate to the waiting arms of Gosaena.”

Krystalena carefully places a fragrant white lily on the ground.
Lynaera carefully places a fragrant white lily on the ground.
Orssus carefully places a fragrant white lily on the ground.
Ciyuka carefully places a fragrant white lily on the ground.

“Safe journey on this your final passage”

Ciyuka weeps softly, quiet tears falling from her eyes.

Orssus removes a tall sanguine glass bottle from in his waern pelt cape.

“If any present have anything they wish to say, please do so.”

Speaking in Elven, Lynaera quietly repeats, “Safe journeys.”

Lynaera says, “I have something to add.”

Orssus kneels down.

Orssus carefully places a tall sanguine glass bottle on the ground.

Orssus stands up.

You nod at Lynaera.

(Ciyuka wipes tears from her cheeks.)

Lynaera says, “I do not know how many times the ferry made it between the docks when Ta’Vaalor was attacked..”

Lady Amorana just strode in.
.
Lynaera continues, “But I stepped off of the ferry right as the town was attacked.”

You remove a fragrant white lily from in your leather backpack.

You offer your white lily to Amorana, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer. Click CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer.
Amorana has accepted your offer and is now holding a fragrant white lily.

Lynaera says, “I could well have been the last person they helped cross.”

Speaking quietly to Lynaera, Ciyuka whispers aloud, “You were, Mistress…you were.”

Lynaera says, “Or, perhaps they helped a few defenders arrive….We were not looking to the lake during that madness.”

Lynaera says, “However, they did their duty without complaint.”

Ciyuka rubs Lynaera tenderly.

Lynaera says, “I don’t really have much more to add…other than that they did their jobs well.”

Lynaera nods glumly.

You nod at Lynaera.

(Ciyuka puts her arm around Lynaera’s shoulders and pulls her gently to her.)

“Would anybody else like to say a few words?”

Ciyuka quietly says, “They were braver than anyone would ever give them credit for.”

Amorana agrees with Ciyuka.

Orssus says, “I don’t have anything particular to say.”

Ciyuka quietly says, “They did their duty unflinchingly. Right up to the moment I last saw the ferry, just as the lake started to freeze and they pulled unawares from the dock…they never stopped or shirked their duty.”

Orssus says, “But I thought I would buy the last bottle of wine for the crew.”

Ciyuka nods.

You nod.
Ciyuka’s lower lip trembles slightly.

Orssus says, “The Captain did often entice them to row extra hard when they got extra money for drinks.”

Ciyuka sighs softly.

Krystalena snaps to attention and crisply strike your chest with a closed fist.

“Farewell good crew.”

“On behalf of the Wyvern’s Honor,
I thank you all for attending.”

Amorana kneels down.

Amorana drops a fragrant white lily.

Lynaera glances down.

Amorana stands up.

Ciyuka weeps softly, quiet tears falling from her eyes.

Be safe. If you can’t be safe, be deadly.
