Hearing a noise, she turns her head slightly towards the door. A page peeks his head in.
“Mirror?”
“Yes Gasen?”
“There is a loremaster here to see you. Should I let him in?”
“Please, and then you can be on your way to bed.”
The boy opens the door wider allowing an elderly elf to enter.
“Loremaster. What brings you here to late?”
The Loremaster regards the woman for a moment before setting a large pile of worn parchment on her desk. “Here Mirror. I found the records you wished. This should tell the full story.”
“Thank you loremaster. I… I have a request. I dislike sending any of our people away, but I must. I need someone who knows their history to attend the Prince on Teras tomorrow. Would you travel by Chronomage to the island and attend this meeting on our behalf?”
The elf bows lightly and says, “Of course Mirror. I would be honored.”
The woman nods his way, “Thank you, you serve us well. We will await your report when you return.”
The old elf slowly exits the room as the woman sits at her desk once more. She takes the first parchment from the pile and begins to read. Her eyes open wide as she mumbles, “two? Curious.”
The candle flickers as it slowly disappears into the darkness of the night. Sleep overtakes the woman as she rests her head on the desk….
