We have heard of the terrible situations that areas of the Empire find themselves in due to recent in events in your lands. There comes a time in history where those of leadership must put aside differences for the good of all. To this end, We wish to send aid to your people. To initiate such an alliance, We would like to introduce one lady Rohese Bayvel-Timsh’l. We send her as our personal ambassador to the Empire. We ask that you and your Emperor receive her and enter into discussion with her about what aid We may bring to your people. She has our authority to work with yourself any other leaders in the Empire who would accept our assistance in these troublesome times. Please accept her into your court.Penned by my Hand,

Climbing higher on the stepladder, she reached up to the topmost shelf and retrieved a small silk-wrapped bundle. She gazed fondly at the small volume nestled in the palm of her hand and carefully opened it. It was one of her most prized possessions but she knew it would probably help with their cause. Stepping down, she sat on a nearby chair and took a moment to peruse a few passages of the ancient elvish prose. Time had certainly taken its toll on the book; the pale silvery text filling the tissue-thin pages within was barely legible but she couldn’t fail to be moved by the poetry of one of her most beloved Illistimi sister-elves.
Grand-daughter of Linsandrych Illistim, Adonethwen was fourth in the dynastic line of Argent Mirrors and the reason Rohese had joined the Order of Lorekeepers. She was renowned for her poetry; most notably the sestina. Surely the Baron would appreciate the significance of this gift and the message it conveys?
Closing the book, Rohese rose to her feet and glanced about her. She would miss the tranquillity of her library but she couldn’t delay her journey any longer. Baron Dunrith Malwind had been made aware of their coming and, with the new year on the horizon, it was time to get back to work.
A few hours later …
Rohese tucked the books into the folds of a velvet gown and closed the lid of her small trunk. Securing the buckles, she called for her chambermaid and gave her some last-minute instructions. Then, donning her longcoat, she stepped outside into the chilly, early morning air and headed west.

Lord Aeriadrn Ghaeriden Illistim
Office of the Seneschal
Ta’Illistim Keep
28th day of Lormesta, in the year 5118
Seneschal,
As you are no doubt aware, I am currently in Vornavis at the behest of our beloved Argent Mirror to extend an offer of further assistance to Baron Dunrith Malwind for the many displaced in the Empire’s northern territories. Last night, our party had the opportunity to present the Mirror’s cause to His Excellency at a formal court session. I thought it would be appropriate to send you a brief update of our progress.
I am pleased to report that we have been made to feel very welcome in the freeport and the Baron appears to be open to our proposal. I took it upon myself to bestow the gift we briefly discussed as a token of friendship and symbol of sincerity; it was kindly received.
Whilst the rather tactless reference made by the ICICLE ambassador shortly after to our “fancy garb and lavish gifts” caused some minor consternation within the party and amongst others of our group, I’m fairly sure the gentleman in question didn’t mean to give offence and I wish to reassure the Mirror that it is unlikely to result in a diplomatic incident.
His Lordship, Salnim Malwind, has invited us to discuss the matter further – aid that is, not the momentary lapse in diplomacy on the part of the envoy from the frozen north – and we now await his formal invitation. I shall remain in Vornavis until such meeting has taken place or until the Mirror requests my return.
I am, as ever, the Mirror’s most humble and obedient servant.
High Lady Rohese Bayvel-Timsh’l
Scrivener of Ta’Illistim and Patron of the Displaced
OOC note and disclaimer: I just wanted to say that, despite the lateness of the hour for me, I had so much fun with everyone last night, thank you. You have all reminded me why I love playing GS and Rohese in particular.
I hope Arnylon didn’t mind me mentioning his opening remarks in the letter to the Argent Mirror but, whilst I’m sure he didn’t mean for it to cause offence (or did he?!), it resulted in a few wry comments and considerable amusement among the elven contingent and added an interesting political tangent to the proceedings. I do love a little elven indignation for breakfast!
More please!
