Summaries

Burns and Conditions

Mayor Thadston and Amos meet over what to do about the krolvin warlord Tyrrax, who wants Amos turned over to him due to Amos’ warships attacking his fleet. One of the warships has departed the Landing area, as Amos says his courier Ivorel is searching for information. People explain how Tyrrax’s shackles control Kharusa and Amos summons his firefly Celladonna to confirm with everyone that they look like a destroyed pair in her possession.

Amos says he’ll meet Tyrrax on three conditions: many accompany him to the Black Sands to be prepared, Thadston can’t accompany them, and Amos gets to keep the shackles. Thadston says that if Amos uses the shackles against citizens in any wrong fashion, he’ll kill him after snapping his fireflies’ necks, but other than that, he agrees.

Bottle It Up

Debris from the clash two nights earlier washes up along with a glass bottle at Bernadette’s feet. Appearing to be from Rian, the note inside says he’s sorry and had to stay, believing that Tyrrax will release him but sending a warning that Tyrrax is more determined than ever and will meet with the Council of Crows at Glaoveln to rally others now that he’s lost Kharusa.

Amos meets others at the Sleeping Dragon Pub to catch up on those details and says he expects his courier Ivorel to return by month’s end and everyone will need to be ready to act immediately when he does. People observe that Amos has a new habit of scratching himself frequently, though he just says a long bath will do him good. Lylia also shares the contents of the letter Rian passed to Dendum, saying that Tyrrax seeks to end Lalk Morgil, unite krolvin under him as a historical legend, take back the Star of Khar’ta, and defeat the “blood heretic.” Rian also says to tell his wife he loves her and should have listened.

Meanwhile, Amos asks where Kharusa is. Kiyna says all anyone needs know is that she’s safe and if she wishes to come forward, it’ll be of her own will. Amos says she might hold valuable information and doesn’t wish for her to become a pawn and asks Marshal Stormyrain if her whereabouts are truly unknown. Amidst as back-and-forth discussion, Kiyna says she’ll pass along helpful questions, but won’t accept any suggestion that Kharusa owes anyone anything. Amos says he doesn’t need to know where she is, but asks to pass along his request that he would wish to meet with her if she chooses. She says she’ll do that.

All She’s Cracked Up To Be

Larsya meets everyone at the Hendoran outpost war room with a feast, but says her brother Breshon won’t be joining them. He came to take her home, saying that their father Spensor is ill without much time, so she must come home, but she refused and sent him away. Breshon will be sending an advisor–a Regent–soon to help her, however. Sir Cryheart asks when she last saw her father and she says not since he left her in a glass coffin–and she supposes she’ll see him next in a wooden one.

Meanwhile, she wants everyone to compete in a game of throwing eggs at each other. She pairs everyone off and the revelry commences, but late in the evening Larsya begins to chant a bird-like trill and her fingernails flash with green. She at first says “not this again,” but then, when people ask, she says it hasn’t happened before. Nonetheless, she ends the night victorious in her own tournament, then thanks everyone for helping her feel better.
