Wecome to the TownCrier’s Discord Digest! What You Missed

#general

Puptilian tells a new player, and thus reminds us all, about the command SERVICE SHOW.

#premium

zeph asks, “any reason why so many rooms in FWI are non-magic? seems like all the nodes besides GC are anti-magic”. GM Quilic responds that there aren’t many nodes on FWI, but he can look into it. The player provides a list. GM Quilic states he will look into it further.

Xilona expresses joy over the paddleboats and picking green beans. What, wait? Where are the green beans? Then she tells us she’s going clamming! Akenna states that if there were hunting grounds and a wizard guild, she probably wouldn’t leave Four Winds Isle. GM Quilic states both are in progress.

GM Quilic talks more about how his goal as a GM is to draw people to Isle of the Four Winds, enticing them to spend more time there.  Nehor asks “So out of curiosity @Quilic , IDEALLY, what would you like to see in terms of interaction levels amongst players spending their time in FWI?” GM Quilic responds:

  • I want people who can live their entire GS “lives” on FWI, and who have an emotional attachment to it. That requires hunting grounds, full stop, and we’re working on that.
  • I want people to be “proud” to be FWI citizens
  • I want it to be a lively, thriving place that a lot of people use to go on group hunts/outings, and to participate in QST.

ReverendCatch (Dreanor/Sensou) asks, “Would it ever be in the cards to allow all subs to inhabit FWI (not f2p accounts) ?” GM Quilic responds no.

#mechanics

Starchitin asks if its possible for an animated player to follow a sorcerer using 740 Planar Shift across zones. Ragz states that they will, although the sorcerer may need to >tell ani to follow.

Sins asks, “I know kills are the main essence gathering factor now, but do you still need some lore to start getting it? Seems like my new mage didn’t get anything till he trained 5 ranks the other day.”

#festivals-and-events

zeph asks, “@Wyrom any thoughts on expanding the GSBACKSUMMER promotion to f2p players? i know someone who created an account but gave up after being bored with the limitations of f2p, may be a good enticement to try the full experience?” GM Wyrom answered, “[U]nfortunately, due to how the F2P conversion works, there isn’t a way to offer something like that.”

Questions of the Day

“Would your character lead a rebellion? If so, what cause?” [Traiva]

Other

There was a very large discussion about the Human Empire and its relationship to Wehnimer’s Landing starting with Travia’s question about whether or not the Landing is primarily independent that included comments from Gavrien, RaeleeBristenn, and Puptilian.

This segued into more conversation about Landing vs Ta’Vaalor here. This was also an exceedingly long conversation that included whether or not aspects of storylines are plausible and whether or not realism is important in a game.

Darcena (that’s me) brought up the indirect CvC Arkati realm battle idea previously discussed in mechanics months ago, special Adventurer’s Guild quests that allow people to visit towns and spaces that they usually cannot visit in game, and a desire for group-based ACTs.

Qafziel Nalfein

Qafziel Nalfein, scholar and political devotee, travels Elanith learning more about the relationships between notable parties. His focus is on the Cooperative Houses of Elanthia and Meeting Hall Organizations and their liaisons, but he’s also known to pop into a town meeting on a whim or congratulate someone on reaching the pinnacle of their studies whether it be in warfare or sorcery or something else entirely. Qaf is always on the lookout for ways to connect individuals and organizations both with each other, with adventurers, and with the TownCrier for the betterment of our society. He maintains a network of informants who assist him in his tasks.
