Wyrom brings back enchanting certificates to High End Scrip Shop

Our Fearless Leader, Wyrom, hears our pleas … and restores enchanting certificates to the High End Scrip shop for Duskruin. And there was much cheering, right?

Due to overwhelming response, and to the nature of how players earn [blood]scrip, the enchanting certificates are going back on sale.

While I do feel strongly about this subject, we also realize people have made a sizable investment to save up for the enchanting.

Please note, moving forward, items in the scrip shop, most notably the certificates, are not guaranteed from run to run. We aim to move away from certificates in future runs and to new forms of how we deliver services, but priorities can and do change often.

A personal thank you to GameMasters Coase, Estild, and Finros for being open minded to discussing these topics to exhaustion each night.

Well this is just unacceptable. What about those in the underwhelming category? Or those simply in the whelmed category of this debate? No no no. We need to simultaneously make the enchanting certificates available and not available. We’ll call it Schrodinger’s Enchants.

I just want to say that as someone who’s been away from the game for over a decade, it’s really cool to see how GMs work so directly with the players now. You definitely can’t please everyone, but it’s clear you really listen and try. I really like the “indie” feeling of that where we can talk directly to the devs.

Three cheers for enchant certs! Thanks much for listening!

It’s nice to see the GMs respond to player feedback. Honestly, most other games I’ve played the GMs would either: never respond and ignore the feedback, respond in a vague generic way, agree to the make a change but take FOREVER to implement it. I think this is one of better parts of Gemstone.

I didn’t complain about the removal of the certs (or at least, I don’t think I did), but thank you for bringing them back. I was one who was considering buying one…though the effective price, at 100 mil silvers or higher STILL gives me pause, lol. That’s one reason I didn’t speak up (or don’t think I did anyway)…

Now if the darn 20% weight reducing cert only came back…

I certainly would if I could, but this is my first Duskruin and it almost exactly coincides with 2 major deadlines, so there’s basically no chance I’ll get to the needed scrip. But if I could make 50k scrip appear, that’s probably what I’d spend it on. I think in general with something like this, there’s a lag between “I want that!” and actually being able to get it. But yeah, I’d love a minor enchant. (Or unlocking padded armor for wizard enchants, so I can start working toward it myself.)

While I don’t have a stake in this particular line of discussion – I had no intention of getting an enchant certificate this run – I do want to express my appreciation for the staff in considering input from players. The active level of interaction between staff and players, especially with regard to soliciting feedback and responding to said feedback, is one of the greatest things about how GS operates currently.

Oh man, a minor enchant is only 25k…. I’m going to have an try to make this work somehow, aren’t I?

The first one starts at 25k! It will go up in price as more people purchase them.

Haha. Yeah, that hammer is crazy. True story about it. When it was first released, I squealed. I didn’t have enough to buy it.

We have a gear rating system, and it’s not something I can go into much on the forums. But as I’ve said in previous runs, we’ll work with you the best we can.

Is it known by how much? Does it quickly become unaffordable from original price? (Wondering if I should even try for it since it sounds like it won’t be around next time so I can’t just get scrip this time and save it for the next run.)

I want to say its 10% per purchase. So, 25000, 27500, 30250 and so on. We don’t know if it will be 10% though, might be more.

Yikes. So it probably is out of my reach, after all. 🙁
Well, I guess I’ll just hope it’s around next time. (Or that the rumors are true and they make pre-tempering potions for padded armor so I can dream of enchanting it myself.)

Nothing I’ve bought in prior DRs went up only 10% per purchase and I don’t think many of the items go up that slowly. Most of mine went up 25% per purchase…and I think at least one item went up 40% (though my memory might be conflating things). The listed range is 10% to 50% with no official way to know how much ahead of time-though you can figure some items out by looking at the starting and ending prices from past DRs.

Can you confirm that padding and weighting will be offered at the next run in some form?
