Welcome to the Quest Nexus!

The Quest Nexus is a new and exciting place where adventurers can gather and set out on their favorite quests!

How do I get to the Quest Nexus?

The Quest Nexus can be accessed by purchasing a token from the Simucoin Store. Once you have a token you can RAISE it or use the QUEST NEXUS command to teleport yourself to the timeless Nexus. No longer will you need to visit the box office to attend! The Quest Nexus is always available and ready to send you to your demise!

What is the Quest Nexus?

The Quest Nexus is a timeless place where different realities and periods of time are joined. The Nexus allows you to enter any of the converted box office quests from the same location.

What Quests are available in the Quest Nexus?

The only quest that is current converted is Night At the Academy. In the near future we will be converting Black Swan Castle and Troubled Waters to also be accessible from the Nexus.

How much does it cost?

You will be able to buy a single token for 1000 Simucoins. This token will be consumed upon entering a quest from the Nexus or its physical entrance.

How do I know if a quest is active or not?

You can use the QUEST STATUS command or LOOK at your token. This will tell you if a quest is in progress or if it is available for questing.

What prizes are there?

The prizes remain the same from the previous box office iterations.

When will it be available?

The tokens will be available in the Simucoin store soon.

Retser, ASGM

Exciting! I never did any of these events just because I heard rumblings that coordinating them was hard, but heard good things about them, so… looking forward to finding out!

So they are going to be permanently available now?

They’ve been permanently available as long as you scheduled a run with the billing department. This just bypasses that need allowing you to just do it whenever with no interaction needed from billing to setup the run in the box office.

Yep, great for last minute interest, especially after hours or on weekends or holidays.

As well as circumventing a pesky daylight savings time issue and other quest issues over the years (hopefully!).

so basically in the past i could have called billing and paid to ahve the run go, and now i can just buy a token and do it whenever? no gms or anything like that needed?

That is correct. No billing/GMs needed (as long as no bugs in the system, it is new).

Yes, GM Retser has been working on this for quite awhile. We’ve had an odd bug that would arise, even more so after daylight savings, that the hours would get off kilter and require a GM who was knowledgeable with quests to supervise the event. We had tried a lot of things to fix this, but it always came back up no matter what we did to try to adjust for the time being off. This is a big reason we’ve moved away from the box office. Ebon Gate had this issue every year too, but typically GM Sleken would be around during opening night fixing it for several hours.

The automation part is a huge boon as well. No more needing to call or email Chris in billing (though you can still give her a call and say hi if you miss calling in). This will help people schedule things during off hours or if you suddenly have the craving to do the event. Night of the Academy is our most popular, but we’ll eventually add our old lineup, Black Swan Castle and Troubled Waters. Going forward, we’ll make new quests using this system.

With SimuCoin Monthly Rewards, you can also do these pretty much for free every other month as a Premium subscriber.

Returning to Black Swan will be great, and I’ve never done the others, so I am looking forward to it.

However, and please take this as a real constructive suggestion. I would absolutely, and happily pay an additional fee PER MONTH on top of my subscription cost for a Player Run Shop if that would help get them done.

Player shops won’t be something widely available. Even when they are done, there will be a finite number available. I am just mentioning this so expectations aren’t out of control here.

>>Put the Necropolis in there, too!

If people would like to do the Necropolis for 1000 SimuCoins, we might be able to do that. This system will be a flat rate for everything though.

Heck I only want one room in one!

Wyrom, it’s okay – I don’t think any of us had the expectation that you guys would build more shops, just clean up and re-release the existing abandoned ones (2000 interior rooms at 1-3x per shop is.. several hundred shops, if I understand Retser’s description of his work effort). But once you open all the closed ones many of us will be able to share a shop with one or two other people. I’d be thrilled with that as I am sure would many others. 🙂

I meant it may be tricky but I have faith it can work somehow.

I don’t think it burned as it was underground, above ground did as hinted at on the walk to the dock toward Caligos. There may have been a cave-in not sure.

Some necromancer must have opened up a portal, for research! 😉

But what would be the prizes/scrip?

Any consideration to adding the Arena (or something just like it) to this Nexus? Of course 1k simucoins for a single entry is a bit steep, but it’s something I’m betting could be negotiable for a lot of us.

General Question here:

How does the Nexus Orb know where to put folks? Ie, if there’s a level 70 version of NATA running, are they no longer private runs? Any person in that level range that buys/raises an orb will be transported to the active quest?

Same for other levels, I assume its similar to Reim? There could be a 30-40 group of NATA running, and a 90-100 group at the same time?

Does the timer shut off after so long? I know that information is displayed when you look at the orb or read it or some such. Sorry if these questions were addressed earlier!

– There is only one Quest Nexus and one NATA instance. There isn’t some level separated instance on any of these. After buying an orb, people have three minutes to join. The orb allows transport to the Nexus. You can use QUEST STATUS to check to see if anyone is currently running NATA. You can also look at the orb for more information.

Example:
Quest Nexus Status

Night At The Academy: Available

… and when a group is doing the quest.
Quest Nexus Status

Night At The Academy: Quest in Progress

Same for other levels, I assume its similar to Reim? There could be a 30-40 group of NATA running, and a 90-100 group at the same time?

– No, there is only one instance. This isn’t anything like Reim.

– What timer? The quest timer? The quest has the standard amount of time. The quest will still communicate like it did before its limits and time left.

Another question in regards to the timer.

NATA runs typically 3hrs max length. If I was to get in, do all the puzzles, etc and get out what happens to reset the timer? Or does the quest go into an “active” phase for the entire 3hr length of the run with no way for the group to signal the run is done so that a new “fresh” run can begin. Or is there another trigger that I’m currently oblivious (I don’t run them much) that gets hit and therefor closes the instance normally before the 3hr timer is up.

Also if there is no way to end the current quest so a fresh run can start, is there any sort of “TIMER” that can be seen to know how much longer the current QUEST IN PROGRESS has left till it ends? That way if I’m wanting to go in with my team to run NATA I know how much longer I need to wait before the current instance is finished and ready for a fresh run.

– This will vary per quest. For Nata, the quest resets when the quest is finished or failed. So if you finish the quest by placing all the things in the cases, you get teleported out and the quest is ready again.

– Not yet, but soon. For now, it just says available or quest in progress.

Well yeah, the end reward for the Necropolis is far too great as it stands for use with the nexus orb.
