GM Estild Posts About Price Bug in W/P/S Merchant Culd

GM Estild writes that there was a bug in the cost for the Weighting/Padding/Sighting merchant Culd on Monday evening if you had something worked on in the past that the service time period already expired. Read on for instructions to get the difference in silver cost refunded:

Something seems off and extremely expensive with the numbers being quoted for 5 services by Culd during new years for my 6x lirion bow.

Final result:
[A wide-grained thick ruic long bow has a combat effectiveness rating of 2 points of Sighted weighting and a 50.0% chance to have a combat effectiveness rating of 3. It has 5 of 10 services towards the next full rank of combat effectiveness. It has been serviced 5 times in this service window, which resets in 59d 23h 59m.]

According to Tysong:
let’s say for max cost possiblity, it’s 6x (30 gear points), scripted (max 20 gear points), and if they count the flaring as separate surchage (7 gear points), total of 57 gear points. 57gp * 6500s per = 370,500. Additional 10% surcharge for crit weight/padding. Should of been 2,037,750 silvers.

12.35m for 5 services at a non linear rate, just to bring to heavy sighting would costs what? 30 billion silvers or something absurd like that? I thought this was meant to be accessible and cheap as long as you don’t do many services per 60 day window. If 12.35m for 5 services is cheap then what would be expensive?

Can these formulas be reviewed and confirmed that this is the way it is meant to be?

Bows that make their own ammo are expensive to improve. They’re already pretty great to begin with!

Sure, but not 12.35m expensive for 5 services. Though I heard back from others that actually the reason why it was so high was because the 60 day window was never reset and it was as if I was doing 25 services all at once. Once again, 12.35m for 5 services is not reasonable but 12.35m for the next 5 from 20 within a 60 day window makes more sense since it’s meant to be cost prohibitive and at least has a reason to justify.

12.35m with no reason to justify other than “it’s great!!” .. ehh.. I also priced a 7x, HCP, fusion, t5 ensorcelled armor for about 2.2m. Which in my opinion is a pretty great item too but I don’t think it should be 12.35m great.

Just FYI, the total cost after resetting the window was 1,123,375 which IMHO is a lot more reasonable. At that rate, to get to heavy sighting would cost me like 30m if it were linear. Well at least I could afford that, but not 12x’s that.

Very glad GM Estild was able to identify the bug and was so helpful getting the refunds processed. I’ll admit that I, too, was surprised at the prices when I quoted them, but Culd is merely a lowly servant, and was just doing what The Talent commanded at the time. 😉

FYI Drafix, my math was off due to the formula not being full revealed. Here’s yours. And I was correct on guessing an extra 7pts for flaring arrows. You have a combined GearPoint total of 57 GPs.
((20 * 1750 + 15 * 3250 + 15 * 5000 + 7 * 6500) * 5) + 10% = 1,123,375 silvers to add 5 service points.
