Subj: If a picture paints a thousand words…
…then why can’t I paint you? Oh wait – now you can!
After nearly two years, this item will be up for sale in Bloodriven Village. Paint to your heart’s content and gain skill as you do so. Your paintings will become more and more elaborate as you hone in on that design talent. If you are persistent with your studies, and have an unlocked easel (also available at Duskruin) you could master the skill and paint someone else’s portrait!
A very, very small number of Tier 2 items will at some point be made available, though at this time it’s undecided where — but these will allow your very own customized paintings.
I do have to give a HUGE shout out to all the GMs (Galene, Wyrom, Vanah, Elysani, Wakefield, Xayle… I hope I’m not forgetting anyone), Mentors, and players, who helped me finish up paintings and get this item out the door. xoxo

I think you just made a while lot of artists indecently ecstatic.

I hope I can have one that perpetually makes “Crudely drawn stick figures using various colors with no rhyme or reason”.
I hope that is how the progression starts, crude and unrefined until you learn to actually use it. Much like the adjectives for cobbling shoes when you start out.

You definitely start out with no skill, and it’s reflected in your paintings.

With enough skill, and the right easel, the possibilities are endless!
>analyze easel
This item can be freely altered, but it must remain an “easel”. Long descriptions are okay; no shows. It may not be lightened/deepened. Current verbs: CLEAN, CLOSE, HUG, OPEN, and PULL.
If you are holding a suitable paintbrush, you can PAINT EASEL to paint pictures! As you paint more pictures, your skill will progress, and you will create more elaborate paintings. Your easel must be on the ground in order to paint.
If you progress far enough in your painting skill, and you have an unlocked easel, you can:
Tier 1: paint a portrait of another person using pre-written styles.
Tier 2: design your own custom paintings. (Please note that this tier will be rare.)
HUG the wooden easel to view the syntax for special Master Painter commands.
The easel is currently Tier 0. (0|1|2)

The easel conveniently has all the paint you’ll ever need. You’ll need a paintbrush, though. Those are sold in the shop as well.
Easels come off the shelf with 20 pieces of canvas. You can either buy more canvas (in stacks of 10) or you can purchase the canvas maker. It’s pricey though, and if you have a ranger friend who can forage (non-broken) twigs, you’ll be set for life.

Right, looks like the descriptions have the Tier’s Ordinal (So 0 is OTS and these are 1). I’m hoping that there will be some ability to do an upgrade-only unlock for those that commit to buying the better ones now.

Eventually, yes. I haven’t decided if this run or August, but it’ll also be pricey. Not for the faint of heart!
As for the tiers, there’s 3 of them, total. Off-the-shelf and 2 additional tiers, one of which is sold in the shop.

The last unlock will be by certificate. It won’t work unless your easel is T1 (off the shelf is not Tier 1 in this case.) I haven’t decided yet how I will offer those certificates, and/or if they’ll be at this run of Duskruin. I’m thinking on it!

Ok.. I think there might be a tiny problem.
I got some foraged twigs; made a few sheets of canvas then I slide a sheet into my easel but the count stayed the same.
A myriad of colors and hues cover the surface of the artist’s palette attached to the side of the three-legged easel. Providing additional support, a small wooden bar has been placed between the two front legs, and there appears to be enough blank canvas for 11 creations.

Are we supposed to do something else to the canvas before we can slide it into the easel?

Canvas from those boxes should be fixed now. You’ll need to make new sheets of canvas (sorry foragers!) in order for the canvas to work.
