GM Valyrka offers us some Fun Facts about the Flight of the Griffins. Which player suggested this to her? Where can you avoid the Griffins? And more at the Officials:
Subj: A Few Facts And Thank Yous About Flight Of the Griffins
Flight of the Griffins was brought to me last summer by Aurach. The basic idea was all his! Thank you for the fun idea! If any of you have ideas like this and want to send them along, please do!
GM Aiza and I teamed up. She coded the event (THANK YOU FOR YOUR CODING SKILLZ!), and I painted the rooms, did the messaging, prizes etc. Thank you to GM Galene, GM Tamuz, GM Coase and QC for permissions and making things ready to go.
There is definitely some more tweaking we can do to the event, but at the same time, the real purpose was to bring some flavor to the TI area (the items inside the piles were just a little extra yay! you did not get eaten fun) and the environs are supposed to be scary!
Some Fun Facts: The creatures will only pick you up in an outdoor, outside town room and the time frame for the event firing is random, and even then there is a check and it does not always pick someone up.
I will definitely take some of the suggestions about level vs creature into consideration.
The babies will be ready to feed themselves soon, so walk outside with caution until then. (The event will end Wednesday evening)
If you were killed and decayed inside the nest, please send me a note!

Soularh Got killed being dropped into a griffin nest flat on his back, hit by 2 or 3 grifflets that had an AS of 380. Is this only intended for higher level characters? I am 38 hunting in Sprites.

I dunno, I’m thinking once they can feed themselves, there’s even more reasons to be wary!

Level scaling would be nice. My warrior got picked up and dropped into a nest. Stunned, laying down, and three grifflets with a 380 AS means she died really fast (she hunts Teorrain Dale normally). It could be a fun event if we stood a chance without needing to be 60+ trains.

There is minor typo in the messaging i spotted… several feet above her next, Should that be nest? The large splotchy griffin quickly swoops down and releases you several feet above her next, and you flail awkwardly before landing with a dull THUD! [A Large Nest] You notice a spotted tawny grifflet. Obvious paths: none A spotted tawny grifflet tries to spear you with its beak! AS: +342 vs DS: +130 with AvD: +33 + d100 roll: +42 = +287 … and hits for 84 points of damage! Amazing shot through your nose enters the brain! The silvery luminescence fades from around you. The dim aura fades from around you. The powerful look leaves you. The light blue glow leaves you. You feel your extra strength departing. The glowing specks of energy surrounding you suddenly shoot off in all directions, then quickly fade away. The brilliant luminescence fades from around you. The bright luminescence fades from around you. It seems you have died, my friend. Although you cannot do anything, you are keenly aware of what is going on around you… You realize that you have no outstanding favors which Lorminstra owes you, and without having accomplished a deed for Her, your soul is in danger of vanishing from the land forever! …departing in 13 mins… The tawny grifflet lets out a piercing screech!
